Hi everyone. Welcome to the video game "book" club. Every month, we all play the same game and discuss our impressions during and after. It's a way to make the game playing process a little more social and maybe even a little more rewarding. The idea is to play games we might otherwise skip, learn about how our peers experience games, challenge ourselves intellectually and culturally, and, hopefully, make the VGChartz community even stronger.
This is an informal club and everyone is welcome
A few guidelines:
1) As with all threads on our beloved forum, flaming and trolling is unacceptable.
2) Be mindful of spoilers and use the spoiler_font when in doubt. Although we will be playing the game simultaneously, some of us may be faster than others.
3) Because not every member has access to the same platforms, each month will be dedicated to a certain brand. Thanks to kitler53 for the idea.
- January, April, July, and October: Nintendo games
- February, May, August, November: Sony games
- March, June, September, December: Microsoft games
Please note that these need not be exclusive games. Also note that I will choose games to the best of my ability that are inexpensive, easy-to-find, and well-regarded. I understand many of us have limited funds and want to play the best of the best.
4) Discussion and debate can occur at all times in each individual game thread. However, the club will officially convene every Sunday at 7:00pm GMT to discuss the previous week's progress. That's 7:00pm in London; 8:00pm in Berlin; 2:00pm on the east coast of the United States; 11:00AM on the west coast, etc.
5) A different member of the club will host each individual game thread. He or she will create the thread and write some questions to help guide the discussion.
Lastly, please understand that this club is a work in progress, and that these guidelines may change as we discover what works and what doesn't.
If you're interested in participating, please leave a comment on this thread.
