"Handing off the development of an established Japanese series to a western studio isn't the most shocking idea around. When both Silent Hill and Devil May Cry were feared long in the tooth, Konami and Capcom, respectively, let western studios try and reinterpret the franchises, with mixed results to say the least. It seems Final Fantasy could be next.

The idea of Eidos making an entry into the Final Fantasy series has "certainly been discussed", though nothing has been announced or decided on. But if there were a series that would adapt best to a new studio at the helm, you would have to figure it'd be Final FantasyLightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIIIdirector Motomu Toriyama seems to agree, since every Final Fantasy makes its own world and setting.

Speaking with OXM, Toriyama states, "The whole thing about the Final Fantasy series is that for every iteration, for every game we do, we have a very different game. So the development team is also different every time, so that there's different ideas and different concepts driving it. Obviously within that framework, having a very different type of team could work. So if we got the right team of people, it could produce something very interesting in the end."

Considering the way the series has been going, a change of studio could be the best move at this point, though it remains to be seen how well Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will live out the rest of its days, and what the Tetsuya Nomura's team manages to do with the re-branded Final Fantasy XV.

Picture it if you will. Dim house lights at E3 2017 as the words, "From the studio that brought you Deus Ex: Human Revolution, comes the next entry in the Final Fantasy series" adorn the screen. It can't be the worst idea in the world, right?

Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is set for release in Japan on November 13, 2013, and February 2014 everywhere else. Eidos Montreal's Thief is also set for release in February 2014."

This would be interesting if Eidos developed Final Fantasy 16 but it could be either good or bad considering how Eidos is a talented developer Human Revolution in my opinion is the best game Square Enix has put out all gen but western developers making a installment in Japanese franchise at least to my knowegde never turns out good

Eidos makes Mobile games?

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I would definitely like to see somebody new in charge of the Final Fantasy franchise. The games have been average to mediocre for a long time. Last Final Fantasy I really liked was probably X... That being said, Eidos? I don't know about that...

Japanese gamers would get so mad at this lol and probably refuse to buy the game.  I don't see this happening.

I can even see some people they will turn it into a Call Of Duty clone.

If you re arrange Eidos you can spell IOS. It's in their name, it's their fate...

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

So after polarizing the franchise, they plan to throw it away and have someone else make it.

So much for the FF council or whatever they are called. Suggestions like this doesn't give the fanbase any confidence at all.

New heads = New ideas
That could be a good thing.

And who knows, maybe it's going to be the very first really good mobile RPG (Gosh, I'm really optimistic tonight =o)

I would literally rather see Square Enix offer it to a third party dev like CD Projekt. Eidos is competent, but they don't have so many RPGs I like.

That said, the problem with Final Fantasy has consistently been that S-E has an iffy writing team and upper level staff. The dev team has always been competent, but the design choices have been outright terrible. Chances are it doesn't matter who does the development because the higher level designing (the part with problems) will still be done at S-E. Eidos is likely to get blamed for something which isn't their fault.

S-E's internal dev team is fine. It's just the people upstairs.

I hope they would get rid of the anime inspired character designs and replace it with more westernized characters
