Forums - Sales Discussion - Sales Graphs begin! COD Series sales visualized

Tagged games:

Hi guys, to celebrate the arrival of the sales tools back on VGChartz, I wanted to begin with 2 graphs I found interesting while tinkering around.

But before I do, I want to give a big shout out at my friends prof, linkz, Carl, Kowen, ethomaz, noname, trucks and other great friends that helped push the sales tools, and a big thanks to ioi for giving us the start of something big.

Here they are:

So, the graphs represent the evolution of the COD series on the 360 (main COD platform) and the devolution of the COD series on the Wii.

There are reasons for this we are all pretty familiar with at this point, but I just thought the graphs made a point pretty strongly and are very accurate at showing the explosive growth of COD at MW2, and then the upward trend on the 360, the converse of which happened for the Wii. It's nice to see what we know drawn out before our eyes.

Diminishing sales on the Wii versions. I can't believe Call of Duty 3 is the highest selling on Wii. World at War was decent on Wii but lacked more features than the other versions that followed (when compared to the HD versions). Pretty obvious that there isn't too much of a CoD following on the Wii. I own WaW and BO but I refused to get MW3 after all the glitches and crap that were on BO (Wii). Hell, they never really fixed the host freezing problem (only occurred every so often but still happened to me 20+ times). Decent amount of cheaters too... Basically, you are the beta tester with every CoD release.

woah i created exactlky the same xbox 360 cod graph half an hour or so ago^^

Is it possible to allign weekly sales from launch?

It would seem COD is becoming even more front-loaded, with the hint of a slight decline for the next iteration.

sorry if i wasn't clear. i meant weekly sales but instead of starting at a certain date, every game starts at week 1, then week 2, etc. Not cumulative, but just weekly sales all alligned from week 1.

Ah, darn yeah I don't think that's possible just yet. I should've figured that's what you meant. Well, let's continue to ask for the tools we want. For now it's the best we can get.
