Eurogamer with the usual 8/10

It makes for a curious game, and one that's as problematic as it is exhilarating. This is no longer Bungie's Halo, though much of what made the original so successful is here and intact. It's an awkward reinvention that manages to be at once faithful and a little wide of the mark. But such is the strength of Combat Evolved, this is still an Anniversary that's worth celebrating.

Yes, It's Still Great - Halo: CE Anniversary

Considering Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary is being sold at a reduced price, I really can’t see any reason not to take the plunge given how well the gameplay still holds up and the tender way in which it’s been repackaged. Whether you’re a veteran looking to experience the original magic for a second time or a newcomer wondering what all the fuss is about, this is an excellent package.

Perhaps 343 Industries really are up to the job of taking the reins of this Halo thing after all…

9.0/10

At the end of the day, I think Halo: Anniversary is primarily designed for hardcore Halo fans. If you don't already own Halo: Combat Evolved or are still addicted to Halo: Reach, then I highly recommend getting Anniversary. The original Halo is available on Games on Demand for 1200 MS Points, and with the aforementioned map pack alone being sold for the same price, you're getting a lot for the value.

great start :) but i think this game will be hammered down for the lack luster graphics and old gameplay! i think reviewers should be alot kinder to this game because it was a remake

I don't care about reviews, we all know what Halo CEA is about and how it plays ect.

In my opinion, still the best Halo, far superior to the sequels.

The lowest current review on metacritic is a funny read.

The person clearly didn't play through the whole game and he downright lies about features in the game. For example he says there is no split-screen co-op when there is. He then goes on to imply that enemies have infinite respawns when that has never been the case in any Halo game. He clearly also didn't play any of the multiplayer since he doesn't even mention the updated gameplay and the return of the 3 shot pistol.

He laments that the original game has not been preserved (which it has in every sense) then goes on to complain that no new additions have been made to the game. He didn't even manage to find more than one terminal, seriously did he play the game for like 3 hours?

I'm ok with criticism in reviews, after all some people prefer the non-stop action that todays current fps like COD provide in their campaign. What pisses me off is a reviewer that lies about features in the game, doesn't play the game more than a few hours and presents a totally nonsensical and contradictory ending argument giving a low score.
