Jokes on you, you need to be permanently connected to the internet to play. Though I am sure pirates will find a way around that quickly enough.

 

OT: The items for real money thing is actually player run auction like the WoW auctoin house. You get some items or something and you can sell it on the auction house, which someone pays for with some digital currency. You can then use the currency to get real life cash or use it to get some other things from blizzard, like WoW game time.

The first point of always being online is the first problem I have witht his game.

WEll you can play single-player, you jsut have to e connected to their server.
I also haven't been on SC2 in forever and if Bnet 2.0 still sucks the big dick it used to suck a bit back, then diablo 3 will be the 2nd laughable game from blizzard in a row.

Supposedly it's the items from in game that drop that you can sell to others, or buy from others.

Buying item with real money is one of the other main reason why I quit Wow and Diablo 2 (mmo). Any lazy ass jerks can be so powerful all of a sudden. I will still buy the game but only for single player campaign. I am done with online multiplayers.

I hate this so much, I absolutely hate this. Sure it happens already in D2, but the worst possible thing to do is encourage and advertise it so even casual players (the majority of players) can buy whatever they want with real cash. Real life economy should never enter and interfere with a game economy.

This has really put a bitter taste on D3 for me.
