Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remaster Reportedly Planned for November Release - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 02 October 2021 / 4,393 ViewsIt was rumored recently that Rockstar Games was developing remasters for three classic Grand Theft Auto titles - Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was rated earlier this week in Korea by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea.
Kotaku has heard from sources Rockstar plans to release the trilogy remasters in November. This is due to Rockstar delaying the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online from November 11 release date to March 2022.
The 20th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III is on October 22. If Rockstar does plan to release a remaster of the PS2 Grand Theft Auto games in November we should hear something about it soon.

So they will release ports to make people wait for another port, brilliant
they are probably just the updated android versions ported to consoles
hope for additional content here and a low price for me to purchase again.
Remakes I'd probably buy. Remasters probably not. I need to see some serious modernization.
Vice City is the only one I'm interested in. That's one I do want to revisit but the controls are wonky now, so I hope they fix that.
maybe by the very first time in Nintendo Switch?
Considering this are single-player PS2 games, there's absolutely no excuse to not port it, outside of T2's weird relation with Nintendo.
There could be some technical reasons though, for example if the engine they're using doesn't support Switch. If Take Two doesn't think they're going to profit from porting the games, it would also be a good reason to not release the game on Switch. I can't personally see porting the games being so expensive that releasing a Switch version wouldn't make sense, but Take Two could assess the situation differently.
It's GTA, though. If Skyrim, Doom and even L.A. Noire could make a profit on the Switch, why wouldn't GTA do it? Especially now that we're reaching the +100 million consoles sold. If they decide to skip the Switch, profits won't be the reason.
They're also very old games at this point, and they might not be selling all that well anymore - or they might, but I don't know that. Skyrim seems to always be big, and Doom is a fairly recent game. L.A. Noire is definitely the odd one there, and if porting it was profitable, I would expect porting the GTA games to be profitable too.
Why do comments even bringing up a Switch port possibility keep getting downvotes, what is he saying thats wrong?
It likely will get ported to switch, according to Kotaku sources
It's because those three games all released within the game generation (2001-2004) and on the game console. They look, feel, sound and play relatively the same way. So when people think of the first three, they lump them together.
But I agree that technically, there there is no trilogy.
