The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

 

XOne Vs. PS3 US:

Gap change in latest month: 184,316 – XOne

Gap change over last 12 months: 622,054 – PS3

Total Lead: 3,919,359 - XOne

XOne Total Sales: 26,845,047

PS3 Total Sales: 22,925,688

In November 2019 the gap in the US between the Xbox One and PlayStation 3 grew in favor of the Xbox One when you align launches. The Xbox One sold 184,316 more units than the PS3 in the last month, while the PS3 has sold 622,054 more units in the last 12 months.  The Xbox One currently leads by 3.92 million units.

The Xbox One launched in the US on November 22, 2013, while the PlayStation 3 launched on November 17, 2006. The Xbox One has sold 26.85 million units in 73 months, while the PS3 sold 22.93 million units during the same timeframe.

The PS3 sold 26.99 million units lifetime in the US. The Xbox One needs to sell another 0.14 million units to surpass the PS3.

Well soon enough X1 will have outsold PS3 lifetime. WW X1 was a worse competitor but in USA it was a much better one than PS3. But even so people ignore that the infamous release of X1 didn't had such sustained effect when they corrected it in like 2-6 months while Sony wasn't able to fully correct the price and other mistakes of PS3 for the full life of the console.
