The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

 

Switch Vs. PS4 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 342,134 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 200,409 – PS4

Total Lead: 2,282,776 – PS4

Switch Total Sales: 21,575,610

PS4 Total Sales: 23,858,386

October 2018 is the 20th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 4 during the same time frame by 342,134 units when compared to the Switch during the same timeframe. In the last 12 months the PlayStation 4 has outsold the Nintendo Switch by 200,409 units. The PlayStation 4 is currently ahead the Switch by 2.28 million units.

The PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013, while the Nintendo Switch launched worldwide in March 2017. The Switch has sold 21.58 million units, while the PlayStation 4 sold 23.86 million units during the same timeframe.

The 20th month on sale for the Nintendo Switch is October 2018, while for the PlayStation 4 it is June 2015.

The helix continues. Expect the Switch to jump above the PS4 curve for a few months and then the PS4 will jump back up.

The Christmas boost of this year for the switch should be bigger than the previous.

I feel the switch will be under more trees this year than anything else. I say this due to some market research of my own. Its not conclusive or anything. Its just general talk between myself and my customers. My brother and sister did it last year for their children and this year parents are buying switch for their own children. It's the number one toy to buy them. There's no more toys r' us anymore as 6 year olds get tablets instead. So the parents are buying the switch.
So with that said I got some in as well for resale
