September 2018 is the 19th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month the Wii has grown its lead over the Switch. The Wii outsold the Switch by 904,855units in the last month and by 4.86 million units in the last 12 months. The Wii is currently ahead of the Switch by 6.34 million units.
The Wii launched in November 2006, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. The Switch has sold 20.76 million units, while the Wii sold 27.10 million units during the same timeframe.

Yeah, second year the Wii really took off.
The only questions are when will Switch peak?, and will it fall off YoY as much as Wii did after its peak? I mean, how is Switch looking right now YoY? Apparently it was already down this September, compared to last September.

If we see a 3DS successor next year (console bundle without dock), Switch really could take off with Pokemon and Animal Crossing (at least in Japan).
Switch will outsell xbox one but not xbox 360 wii or ps3. Its due to the current gen reaching the last 1/4 of its run and nintendo will probably release a new gen console in 2021
