The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

Switch Vs. Xbox One Global:

Gap change in latest month: 274,509 – Switch

Total Lead: 1,333,095 – Switch

Switch Total Sales: 5,386,574

Xbox One Total Sales: 4,053,479

July 2017 is the 5th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month the gap grew in favor of the Switch by 274,509 units. The Switch is currently ahead of the Xbox One by 1.33 million units.

The Xbox One launched in November 2013, while the Nintendo Switch launched worldwide in March 2017. The Switch has sold 5.39 million units, while the Xbox One sold 4.05 million units during the same timeframe.

This is more than likely going to be a losing battle for XBO, but ever so slightly in their defense they didn't have a worldwide launch until September which was 10 months later.... But it wasn't a huge jump for them anyway. Things didn't get better until TitanFall, the price drop when Kinect was removed, and finally the holiday where they had crazy bundles for as low as $300 and less with a trade-in.
