PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Europe Lifetime Sales – December 2016 Update - Sales

Welcome to the latest edition of the ‘PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Europe’ article. This series compares the monthly and lifetime sales of the 8th generation of home consoles - the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U.

 

Looking at the total sales of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U in Europe in December 2016 shows how much the PlayStation 4 has dominated in the region. It has sold 1.97 times more units than the Xbox One and Wii U combined.

The PlayStation 4 topped 21 million units sold and the Xbox One topped seven million units sold. The PlayStation 4 has sold 21.37 million units lifetime in Europe, the Xbox One 7.42 million units, and the Wii U 3.46 million units.

Taking a look at the marketshare, the PlayStation 4 tops the other two platforms combined. The PlayStation 4 has 66 percent market share, the Xbox One sits at 23 percent, and the Wii U 11 percent.

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 21,367,038

Xbox One Total Sales: 7,415,591

Wii U Total Sales: 3,455,160

 

The PlayStation 4 has outsold both the Xbox One and Wii U every month since it launched in November 2013. The Xbox One outsold the Wii U in for the 29th straight month. The PS4 outsold the Xbox One by 1,208,907 units for the month and the Wii U by 1,698,820 units. The Xbox One outsold the Wii U by 489,913 units.

When you compare monthly sales to a year ago all three platforms are down. The PlayStation 4 is down by 25,553 units, the Xbox One is down 17, 721 units and the Wii U is down 226,962 units.

Looking at market share for the month, the PlayStation 4 managed to achieve 74 percent. The Xbox One accounted for 23 percent of the consoles sold, and the Wii U just three percent.

PlayStation 4 Monthly Sales: 1,764,640

Xbox One Monthly Sales: 555,733

Wii U Monthly Sales: 65,820

Wish there was more competition in the EU, it would do wonders for the prices for PS4 stuff since I own that console, but yeah, its dominating, no suprise
