The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 Vs. Wii U Japan:

Gap change in latest month: 64,941 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 475,281 – PS4

Total Lead: 414,094 – Wii U

PS4 Total Sales: 2,739,081

Wii U Total Sales: 3,153,234

In its 30th month on sale in Japan the PlayStation 4 gained 64,941 units on the Wii U and 475,281 units in the last 12 months. The Wii U is now 414,094 units ahead of the PlayStation 4. As the above chart shows the PlayStation 4 has gained at least 50,000 units on the Wii U every month in 2016.

The Wii U launched in Japan on December 8th, 2012, while the PlayStation 4 launched on February 22nd, 2014. The PlayStation 4 has sold 2.74 million units, while the Wii U has sold 3.15 million units.

Less than half a million to go. If the big JRPGs don't get delayed again, the PS4 will pass the WiiU this year. If it wasn't for the WiiU supply problems there, it could have taken until 2017.

With persona 5 and FF 15 its only a matter of time, zelda won't come anywhere near fast enough to boost the sales.
