Lol. Japan, the ONLY place where the WiiU is selling moderately well.

The last bastion is falling. 2016 the Wii U will fall. It's significant because last gen the Wii beat the ps3 there. Sony have regained control of home console Japan. It will be fun to watch the gap get smaller and smaller in 2016 and then bigger and bigger.

And it'll be fun to watch another company suffer while the other benefits more and more right?.

It's always fun to see that something you like is doing well. I don't get what's bad with that. And heck, I'd rather Nintendo get curbstomped this gen and learn from their mistakes, than that they do it okay enough that Nintendo can remain oblivious to their faults.

I don't really take joy in seeing a company getting curb stomped to a point where they could very possibly cease to exist. Who is to say Nintendo will 100% definitely learn from their mistakes?, who is to say they will definitely make a very strong comeback?. From what I've seen over the past decade if not longer they haven't really done all that well, yeah sure Pokemon or Mario sell a lot and the Wii sold a boatload but at the end of the day that market they had back then is now gone and they lack the power and 3rd parties and still they haven't thought about focusing on a game that shows a different set of visuals that aren't in any way related to a child or wholesome happy go lucky character/franchise, Sony and MS have equally made games Nintendo makes a lot of, sure they aren't the popular games but they still took shots at making those while Nintendo still puts emphasis on games that appeal to one demographics/market.

The main thing is though is you can realize your faults and still get stomped to a point where no one will ever bother with you again, it's not like it's never happened to anyone before mind you.

It has happened to SEGA who didn't have the resources nor the iconic franchises that Nintendo does. And also Nintendo aren't getting to a point where they'll cease to exist. Not even close. Overall, Nintendo will have made a nice sized profit from this generation. If Nintendo fails to adap (and I don't buy the "they don't have the resources to do that" because they do) next gen or the gen after that, and they don't adapt until they in half a century go bankrupt, then that's no ones fault but their own, and that's how a free market works. You can't continuously make devices that the market doesn't want, but expect the market to buy it.

Neither I nor OnekartVita said we took joy from seeing any company getting curbstomped. I said I'd rather that and they improve next gen than that they continue to make the same mistakes time in and time out. Vita said he liked seeing the PS4 sell better in Japan, not that he enjoyed the Wii U selling badly. You are complaining about something that isn't there.

Well if Nintendo weren't jumping the gun with the NX which it has to because WW numbers are bad they could invest more into the Wii U in Japan. It's actually sold well there so far. So they will fall but I don't feel bad because it's their choice to start a new gen.

But I do take mighty satisfaction in seeing the ps4 taking the lead in Japan. Because quite frankly they bloody deserve it.

so why arent you owning a Wii U chazore or a PSvita?

Skratchy OneKartVita (on 15 December 2015)

I think Nintendo is more than ready to move on. They are still working on the WiiU, to cater to the fans who bought it, but it sounds like they have already learned from their mistakes, and quickly moving on with NX. Who knows? They could surprise both M$ AND Sony next year.

I own a 3DS Ruler and plan on grabbing a Wii U by Jan since I've been using this months money on bills and gifts. (was supposed to be grabbing one this month). Also beforehand I owned a PSP but have no interest in the Vita due to the mem card system and replacement of the OLED to LED screens and the games I want not really being on that particular handheld.

Why is an oled screen a factor in getting the vita but not your 3DS?

  • 0
Chazore OneKartVita (on 16 December 2015)

Why the focus on the OLED part and not the rest I mentioned?. The 3DS never had an OLED screen to begin with since Ninty went with LCD screens, the OLED screens looked so much better than the standard LCD, once they replaced the OLED's it became a counter factor towards me getting one.

Basically price point had thrown me off, then the screen replacement, the mem card system which is never going to go away threw me off the system from the start as I preferred the mem stick system we had with the PSP and then of course the system doesn't have games that I'd want on the system, that and I've roughly been into Ninty's handhelds since the first gameboy (and Sega with the Game Gear).

It's a non factor. No oled screen didn't put you off getting the 3DS so it shouldn't put you off a Vita.

If you're a massive Nintendo handheld fan just say that's why. no need to go looking for irrelevant reasons as to why you didn't buy a Vita.

You prefer Nintendo over Sony. Simple as.

You can get a PSTV for dirt cheap if youre not sure about it. Games like Freedom Wars will run on it and it can be moded to unlock more games. it has 1gb its more than enough if you buy games physical.

Chazore OneKartVita (on 16 December 2015)

The fact 3DS didn't start off with an OLED was never a purchasing factor, the dual screen/3D was the purchasing factor for their screen. With Vita it was the OLED screen for me, you can't personally tell me what I can and cannot see as reasons to purchase a product.

I'm not a massive Nintendo handheld fan though, I said I played with a Game gear and a PSP, it just happened that the gameboy, Game Gear, Advance SP, DS, PSP and then 3DS offered me what I wanted and didn't take away from their original designs.

Only you think the reasons are irreverent because you own one and don't really agree with my personal reasons, I know they aren't irrelevant because I;m not the only one who shares those same opinions.

And you prefer Sony over everything else, simple as.

@Ruler, I might give the PSTV a shot sometime in the future.

The difference between led and oled is less than getting a ps4 over and x1 or wii u because of the slightly better resolution in games. I'm sure the other two falling short will put you off. Let's be real here even if it still had an oled screen you'd still not buy it. Nothing wrong with that though.

I did mention the mem card system, that was also a definite part of the "no sale" from me decision, it was also criticized on Sony's part for going with such a locked system.

Right here? Or do you not see the PS4 outselling the Wii U? That is what the graph shows.

Nah. It's that most of the games directed at the Japanese market were also available on PS3, so plenty of gamers didn't feel the need to upgrade. Not so in 2016. Tons of JRPGs headed to PS4. I think we'll see a huge change.
