The staying power of Nintendo's franchises are simply amazing. I bet Sega wishes it could have a Sonic title still selling millions of copies per year, years after it released. However it's clear in 2012 Wii was coasting on nothing but dance titles and old titles. WiiU should have been out at least a year earlier if not two.

It could also indicate a lack of quality third-party offerings for the system.

Just sayin'

I agree with vliam and would add: a lack of first-party offerings too. Just Dance 4 shows, that the system wasn't catching dust, but people actually play these things even in 2012. Except someone claims they bought JD4 to put away without playing.

With sales like that, you'd never know that the Wii was supposed to be a dying console. Even if you scratch off one or two games for being bundled, there would still be one or two games that fill up that spot.

Can expect wii software to continue in sales for some time and some of the wii games like Madworld to pick up a bit in sales since people will be picking up WiiU systems who would have not owned wii's and can now finally get the "hardcore" offerings the wii had without owning one :)
