I know a lot of people with a PS3 rather would buy and play inFamous, but after being hyped for this game about half a year, it still was really satisfying! If you don't own a ps3, you have to buy it

I am not going to make this a comparison review with inFamous and Prototype, even if the games are really similar. This will be my opinions on the game. What I like and what I think is a little overdone.

STORY

The first thing I will have to say about the story of this game, is that you would never play the game for the story. The game has a pretty weak story, but I like the way the story is told.

You are Alex Mercer, who wakes up inside a lab just before two scientists are going to cut you open. You have lost all of your memories, and soon you find out that something is wrong with you. You have the powers to jump very high, run up buildings and change your body into a lot of diferent things. You can also consume people to look like them, and get HP.

The story of the game unfolds true cut-scenes in between missions, and you also get small movie-clips when you consume special people on the street.

The whole meaning with the story is to find out who did this to you, and kill them.

Manhatten is also been infected by a virus (very original :P), so no one is to leave the island. Through the game, the city becomes more and more infected, and the civilians becomes your enemy.

Alex Mercer shows no mercy to anyone! His only goal is to kill everyone who had something to do with him being the way he is.

The story has a couple of twists and I was pretty suprised by some of the stuff in the end, but all in all it's just an ok story.

Score: 5/10

GRAPHICS

First of all, the cinematics have really beautiful graphics, especially the intro movie. If you had seen screenshots from the opening, you would probably think it was a real movie.

The in game and cut-scene graphics are pretty good, but not beautiful. The buildings are kind of flat, and some of the faces of pedestrians are rather bad done, but it's nothing you think about if you are not a graphic whore. The thing this game has a lot of, is blood! And I mean A LOT! The blood, and killing graphics are awesome. You can slice poeple in half and see the entrails as they fall to the ground. The coolest looking kills is the consume kills. They look different from wich weapon you are using, and all of them looks really nice!

Score: 7/10

GAMEPLAY

I have never been a very big fan of pure action games, cause they tend to often be button mashers, and that is also the case of this game sometimes, but still, I love it.

When you kill people, and complete missions and so on, you get what they call Evolution Points (EP) You can use these EP to upgrade, and buy new abilities for Alex, and you get the possibility to buy more and more upgrades. One thing to say about this upgrade system, is that it is all to many upgrades and attacks. You will never use half of them! You tend to find yourself one favorite weapon, and then use that weapon with its abilities all the time. That is ok, and it's cool with some weapons to choose from, but really, some of the upgrades are really stupid attacks you never will use.

Enemies:

There are two main categories of enemies in the game, it's the Infected and the Military.

Both of the categories have a lot of different enemies, but I don't want to spoil it for those of you who haven't seen them yet, so I won't say more about them. But it is a good amount of enemies, with different difficulty to kill, and it becomes harder and harder to survive. When the city has gotten really infected, the streets are full of infected, so you always have a lot of enemies to kill.

Sometimes it's jut really nice to run around and kill a couple of hundred infected, just for shits and giggles, and that is really satisfying.

The military have military bases, and the infected has hives, and this is the only two kind of buildings you can destroy in the game. When you destroy a military base or a hive, the enemies in that area disappears for a while, so you can relax a bit more!

Bosses:

The game have a couple of boss fights, wich I will not spoil, but I can say that only one of the bosses is a really intense and good one. And sad to say, it's not the last boss. I was really dissappointed by the last boss, and the ending was just ok.

Sidemissions:

Instead of sidemissions like the ones in GTA or inFamous you have Events. The events can be everything from gliding from a building and try to land in a bullseye, to get a mission to infiltrate a military base and consume special people in it. I did a lot of the consume events, but most of the events are only funny to do one or two of before you get bored, but you can get a lot of EP from doing them, so it's always smart to do some events now and then, and it can be ok to get a break from the main missions.

Score: 9/10

Replayability

Why play this game again?

After you complete the game on either easy or normal, you get to choose the new game+ versions of the game. There you can play the game from the beginning again, only that you have all the things you already have unlocked in your other playthrough. If you beat the game in Normal mode, you unlock Hard mode, so you can also play it through again in hard.

The other cool thing, is that after beating the game, you can still continue that save to complete events, buy all upgrades and get all of the consume movies. It's a lot to collect, so if you want to complete the game with everything, you have some more hours to play.

Score: 6/10

Conclusion

All in all, I love this game. It has a very good amount of action, you feel like an awesome superhero, and you feel that you can do mostly everything you want to. The game have a lot of cool kills, and the gore is just awesome. The story is a bit weak, but with cool enmies, and great weapons it's ok. You can easily play through the game in under 15 hours, and that is maybe a bit short, but for me this game really was as long as it should be. If it had been much longer, I think you could easily get bored out of it, like I always get with GTA games. I would say, buy this game! Give it a change. It's really good.

All in all: 8/10

Thanks for reading my review on the game Prototype! This was my first written review ever, so I hope it helped you!

Loving it, mind rapes the console versions. When you play with a gamepad, that is.

I bet a majority of people played Prototype on the PC. They downloaded it off the internet, shared it with their friends, I'm sure its mega popular.

Wow I guess there aren't many PC gamers on this site ;)

If there are then I would highly suggest getting this game. It is truly a blast to romp around a fully realized city and wreak absolute havoc.

If I had to summarize this game I would say it is a mix of Incredible Hulk and GTA with tons of gore and twice as fast.

The gameplay is so wicked fun, fluid, and fast that I can just run and glide around the city for hours. Not many games are this much fun just running around the game world. Toss in some sweet powers and hard enemies and you have a great game!

Looking forward to this one mainly because I love romping all over sandbox worlds and wreaking havoc.

I like how the videos show very fast movement, scaling buildings, and then flying off of them... coming down with a crash... yeah this is right up my alley. Like Hulk but even faster!
