It sold more than IX and X-2.. one more week and it will out-sell XII. Then it will go up against VIII.. which I don't think it'll be close to reaching; lifetime sales will bring it to about 6mil or 7mil, if sales keep going the way they are. (combining both 360 and ps3) Message | Report |

I guess the massive advertising in Europe was well worth it.. it is amazing how much it is pulling in. The eventual re-releases in Japan (not including International stuff, if made) should boost sales a bit. Message | Report |

@akibafan & Fab_GS. its sold better on the Xbox in the EU than Mass Effect 2, that came out 2 months eairler and that recieved much better press. its about to pass ME 1 in EU. but i think it has been a flop in JP, its the lowest selling FF since 6 i believe. the NA sales and EU sales will for the first time in the series history surpass JP individually. Well i heard M$ paid for Sqaures marketing... that probabily helped just a bit...lol. i was actully at the UK launch of FF13 with Kitase and Kamiyoko. and the amount of fans there was abosolutly staggering. so because of advertising, word of mouth, it seems to have become more mainstream. @squallstrife & routsunmanman i think the combined PS360 sales are higher in US than EU. but i think EU sales could end up being the stronger than the US. its not far from 2mil in EU combined PS360. then again it looks like the popularity of JRPGS are declining the US with the success of Mass Effect and Oblivion. so it could be the first time EU tops US. its good because it means that Square will take a bigger interest in the EU market. less than 1 million to go in EU before it tops FF7 EU sales, hopefully those legs hold. FF13 went up on the UK Chart again this week, despite several new releases http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110015 Its pretty clear the game is getting a positive word of mouth since after its release both versions were out of the top 40 for one week & then they came back in after that. 2 Months after a games launch if its sales continue to increase weekly, its word of mouth doing the trick. @Angel Your opinion is acceptable, but most of your statement are wrong. No innovation? Innovation means to change something somehow, which is risky. This game actually innovated a lot and is the reason some people have complains about it. Path are linear up until Pulse, yes. Is it a bad thing? Depends on who playing, for me it was not. Why? because it allowed me to get attached to the characters and allowed the story to progress without feeling overwhelmed. Scenery are not repetitive at all, not once. Music, ambiance, and location are all different each time. You sure you played FFXIII? Don't like tutorials? Have option to skip. Music is great, but that's an opinion so no arguments there. I can name many times where I stopped playing just to listen to the music. I hate when people say you just like it cause it has FF on title, that's retarded. Either you like a game or you don't. What the title does is give you preconceived expectation and to some people just disappointed. Want example? MW2 compare to COD4, Halo 3 compare to Halo 2, FFXIII compare to FFVII. Zelda Twilight Princess compare to Zelda Ocarina of Time. The list goes on. Funny that you say you can beat the game just doing paradigm shift and pressing X because that's actually how you suppose to beat it. It takes strategy, and the difficulty is high for a JRPG. You have the option of removing Auto, and the option to set battle speed is its too hard/easy. And yes when you get the option to retry it does count as a GAME OVER. People who say this game easy just don't think having to retry as a failure. Would you really rather get a Game Over screen and have to load the game again? You didn't complain about the story so I guess you enjoyed it, but that would be a opinion also, no complains there. It is the best RPG released this year so far. It received twenty-eight A reviews. You just like it cause the title says "Final Fantasy".... I'm a huge fan of the series since the SNES era, Ive finished all of them except the first three(still played them though),I'm even one of these open-minded guys who think that FFXII is different but great, and I still hate this game...no innovation,the path is more linear than that of an action game,the sceneries are repetitive,the music is so and so,the tutorial explanation is overlong, no towns,no freedom,and if you want you can finish the game by just doing paradigm shift and then press x all the time (x for ps3 ,I dont know which button you push on the xbox version :P),and that's TESTED guys.Oh and about it being the 6th best on the vote here...simple. @AOK Games I'll bite: 1. Read through the thread with the competition in, being the 6th/5th best FF was certainly seen as a good achievement. What does the years it spent in develpment have to do with this? Your using a slippery slope argument against akiba where you bring up an irrelevant point to make his statement look less important/credible. 2. Yes 12 people gave it review scores, yet they are very well written reviews. Bringing up metacritic is a valid point however the discussion is talking about user response. Gamefaqs is a joke in terms of user reviews, everyone knows this, most games are underrated on that site & the forum is a blood bath of hatred. I suggest looking at amazon reviews as you are required to purchase an item before reviewing there. And FF13 has very good user reviews on amazon. 3. Stop lying. Every review that gave the game over an 8.5 praised its story. I assume reviews over 8.5 are seen as "good" reviews in your mind. 4. Generally accepted as hated....says who? Fanboys on the net who after doing thorough research I have found out pretty much hate every new Final Fantasy release since I think 6 or 7. 5. Your gravely mistaken on its sales. Japan seems to be the otulier as pointed out further down this wall. Int he west FF13 has already outsold FF9 and will very soon outsell FF12. Its on track to be the best selling FF in the west behind FF7. In Japan FFX sold 2.3 Million before getting 3 re-releases which pushed it to 3 Million by the end of the Generation. Don't be surprised to see FF13 at 2.5 Million in Japan after it gets its re-releases which again after doing research I have found out that they are very effective. @AkibaFan I don't know how saying 'it's the fifth or sixth best FF' is any way to praise it, seeing as how much time (about five years) went into making it. Also, only twelve gave it a review score on VGChartz; if user reviews are any key, FF13 is sitting comfortably in the mid 80s on Metacritic and in the low 70s on GameFAQs. I haven't played FFXIII yet, but frankly, I don't want to. Even those praising this game talk about how boring the story is and how ramrod straight linear the gameplay is. I hate to break it to you, but Final Fantasy XIII IS generally accepted as 'bad,' especially compared to other RPGs and Final Fantasies before it. Even the sales are showing that, with the combined efforts of the 360 version, FFXIII may only barely outsell any previous exclusive FF. Message | Report |

where is it accepted to be mediocre to ff stndrds? vgchrtz voted ff13 the 6th best ff (out of 14) in the comptition i did. i did th same competition on ign and ff13 came 5th. the user review average on this site is 9.4....tht is mediocre? ppl like u spread this anti-hype. u say "its universally accepted as bad" when it isnt but tht line gets picked up by other haters & soon it gets spread. when a game is mediocre compard to other in the franchise sales take deep dives (Tomb Raider Angel of Death, Crash Bandicoot after Naughty Dog). but yes if it was exclusive online it wud hve lots of ppl defending it, in the real world its a different scenario. This game would of been more "accepted" if it was exclusive. Obviously sold more being multiplataform but I don't think the sale difference in a single console would of been much different. Would of had an alliance of SE fanatics and PS3 fanboys defending it. Now its universally accepted to be "mediocre" to FF standards cause no one side willing to stand up for it. Watch FF Vs. Legs are holding up better for this version than the 360 version. First week sales in the west had the ps3 version topping the 360 version 1.61:1. This past week sales were 1.87:1. Thanks Darth for your advice. I passed Barthandelus now. Hard battle. Onto Chapter 10. I am so looking forward to Gran Pulse and the farming of CP, Gil and those side missions. Team selected for Barthandelus battle: Lightning/Vanille/Sazh. All out attack and only heal when you need to. Relentless Attack and Smart bomb. Combat Clinic to heal and use potions. FFXIII is the best RPG I have played this generation. Move over Mass effect 2 and the rest you have been beaten by the king. Well, I think used game sales. Will hurt it about the same as it normally does. A lot of people sell F FF it after they beat it once. My main impression of this game is that it tries and does fix the problems final fantasy has had far too long. But it creates problems other Final Fantasy's Never Had. Yeah the game is on track to outsell FF12 worldwide I hope they do a xbox 360 release in Japan....(along with a PS3 re-release) it will bump up the game to 2.5 Million FFx-2 was at 1.9 Million befoe it got its rerelease which took it to 2.5 Million. i think used ff13 copies will hinder selling new copies. after beating the game, i dont think i will play ff13 anymore. it does not have replay value like uncharted 2. it lacks the vast world that previous FF had. you can only go to gran pulse and one other place after beating the boss. The FFXIII battle music it gets stuck in your head and plays over and over. Great music FTW. At the end of Chapter 7 and the game keeps getting better and better. looking forward to Gran Pulse on Chapter 11 when the game opens up a lot. Will spend 20+ hours on Gran Pulse levelling up before I take on the rest of the game. 64 side missions and the treasure hunts will add some extra game play after the main story has been completed. PS3 version should sell over 6 million sales due to long legs. 360 version should reach 2 million. All up 8 million sold for FFXIII on multi-platform is a very good sales result. I expect sales to be close to 3.85 at the end of April they will possibly hit 4 million which is really good. Most ff games got 5 million on the PS2. 120 million units sold. The PS3 has 33 million units, 5 million will be very good for ff13, it will possibly get 6.5 lifetime. Message | Report |

I beat the game, I am now playing the post game activities... I will try not to spoil anything but Snow has about 28,000 hp.... Ya, maybe my favorite FF ever.... It never feels slow, or tedius. This game is proof that sometimes even when change is for the better people just don't want it. Example, towns- this game just does not need them, and it actually works better w/o them... You're right Streak they are great sales :) I had the pleasure of talking to a Japanese gamer at an arcade I used to work at. He was "in the know" if you know what I mean. He told me some things about the way the gamers do things over there as a movement with their gaming dollars that really made me mad. I won't tell you what they are, but it made me re-think things. Okay, I'll shut up now. XIII does look like it will sell excellent though. I bet SE is popping the corks right now huh haha Message | Report |

@Mutiverse37 Actually, you know, I used to feel the same way wondering why our games don't sell in Japan but now, well...it's not ALL bad. You know, the uncharted's actually each sold over 120, 000 copies. Crash Bandicoot franchise on PS1 altogether sold like 2 million copies. GTAIV sold like 500, 000 copies. Just beat the game...the ending was way to short. It's a decent FF game still far behind FF4-F10 in terms of quality(for me) but still ahead of FF12. Don't think I'll ever replay this game again, the story didn't do it for me. Message | Report |

@Johnnytesta So I guess it is a coincidence that Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Halo 1, 2, and 3, and ODST, Halo Wars, all Grand Theft Auto titles, Sonic the Dark Brotherhood (DS), Fable 1, and 2, Fallout 3, etc, I could go on forever, but all mentioned games are Western developed and sold incredible in America and Europe, but in, you guessed it, Japan........yeah go look for yourself. I have talked to Japanese gamers and they totally admit that it is like a mass movement over there to 'not' buy our games. Only a fool would say all those games are bad and so they didn't sell well in Japan. I don't care at all. Video games 'and' role playing were invented in the West and we've had them ever since. That is true history that even Hironobu Sakaguchi would agree with. I just think it is sad that we give them our money and buy their games, but in return?......It is an insult to Biowaer, Valve, Bungie, etc I wish Dragon Quest IX after selling 4 million copies in Japan would only sell 10,000 here. AARGH! Just ragequitted this game. As far as I can tell, there's no way to change the 'invert y axis' option. There are two options under y axis camera controls, and whichever I select, pressing down on the control stick makes the camera look up. A fantastic entry in the series, with it's main flaw being that it takes a very long time for the combat to reveal it's greatness. Makes FF VII look like a pile of oily rags. Set that shit on fire and give FF XIII a try. Before long, you'll be glad Aeris is dead. Message | Report |

Combat was pretty aight, graphics were great, musics were godlike, game was pretty long, but the thing is that the game takes pretty much 25 hours to actually take off and feel like an actual FF game. And it still has meh characters and an average story. The game isn't THAT awful, but it's certainly painful to play at times, since we know it might end up be great, but we have to stick through hours of ultralinear gameplay before it finally gets interesting. FF X was very linear too at the beginning, but it at least made up for it with a great story and a shorter "intro", imo. Message | Report |
