@Replicant From where do you pull the info that he was fired? Cause from the Square Enix CEO Phil Rogers it's pretty clear he left on his own and was not fired. "I am sad to see him go but respect HIS decision and we should all celebrate the sheer blood, sweat and tears he has put into our company over the last 10 years!" Seems like you're making things up.

It seems that Square Enix wasn't at all satisfied with the sales numbers, since they fired Darrell Gallagher (CEO of Crystal Dynamics who made the deal with Microsoft) shortly after the XB1 version released.

With digital, Tomb Raider (2013) sold 5 mill between PS3 and PS4, which is the majority of its sales. How could Darrell possibly think that keeping RotTR away from PS4 would benefit the IP?

I enjoy the games a lot and I really hope this haven't damaged the IP long term. Hopefully, we'll see Shadow of the Tomb Raider (or whatever it's gonna be called) as a multiplat release without any exclusivity.

But nobody expected this to do Uncharted 4 numbers, not even close.

I just finished it. Story felt very similar to the 2013 game, except with a father issue tapped into it. I didn't feel attached to any of the characters, and the story could have been better told. Gameplay wise it's pretty good. I'd rate it 7.5/10.
Sales wise It's doing ok, which is well deserved.

Ouch indeed. When you have 6 or 7 months exclusiveness less then a title like this would succeed in the summer.
Aaron greenberg defended putting three exclusives within 3/4 weeks of one another by saying xbox sees the majority of its sales in the holiday season.
It didn't work for SO and not for rottr so ms gotta start timing their games to be more spacious and more smartly.
Tr is still very relevant but who's gonna buy tr on the day of fallout and like a week or two after halo and a week before star wars. Madness!

@Skeetys you do realise that Playstation fans also buys the SAME exact games on their consoles as well? Seriously people who have either the X1 or Playstation pretty much buys the yearly games this isn't an Xbox only thing if you actually bothered to look at the PlayStation 4 software sales.

Tomb Raider isn't dead, in comparison to the 360 with a 80 million plus installment when the first Tomb Raider released in 2013 vs the X1 17 million I say ROTTR is doing ok.

If this doesn't sell well on PS4, then we can all agree that Microsoft killed this franchise. There will be so many games for PS4 next year, this game might be in a similar situation when it finally hits PS4. Plus a lot of people will still be salty about having to wait a year to play a game that is only popular on Playstation.

It's in the same thing if someone were to keep making negative comments about Playstation or any subject in general. People would probably assume after seeing enough negative comments that that person doesn't like said subject or topic. The fact that you are consistently in Xbox One comment sections and for the most part post negative things makes it seem more like you have bias against the Xbox One rather than Mr Puggly being an Xbox Fanboy that you said he/she was.

@fireburn - Oh boy, looks like I struck a nerve.

So I'm an extreme Xbox fanboy? You should see the games I play. I think you'll see I'm a fan of Sony and Nintendo as well. I'm bias for MS exclusives because I feel they make or fund more enjoyable titles than the competitors. So I'm bias for MS games, but you on the other hand are a more extreme type of fanboy. I simply took a glance at your recent forum posts and you're always trashing Xbox. Its kinda sad and from what I can tell you only seem to care about Sony.

You spew crap on a lot of Xbox walls and that makes you a target for responses. Your comment basically implied US consumers just want shooters, but looking at sales its just an ignorant comment. US consumers enjoy a variety of genres just like Europeans.

Obviously you aren't gonna stay off Xbox walls, you love them too much. So I guess you and I will continue to run into each other.

I said 'europe is USUUALLY more open to buying non shooters than usa' I didn't comment on how well shooters do, I didn't say anything but that, which from observation, is true and applies most of the time.
So it seems like crap is more spewed from your gob at a rate far more than mine, I mean literally, and everyone here knows you're an extreme xbox fanboy, so I can sympathise with how you act

Everybody told them it was sales suicide but they just went ahead anyway! Dont they give a shit? It certainly seems that way, this is TOMBRAIDER for gawds sake, not some 3rd class budget ip! They certainly put the advertising behind it, had a quality quality game to sell and they gave themselves no chance with its release day. Its embarressing. Deus Ex moved to early next year to avoid this happening, microsoft should've done the same with this.

However, this is a lesson on how exclusives should not be handled. Don't launch the same day as a more popular game. Hope this has good legs. Regardless of sales this is a great game.

@Mr Puggsly - Darrell Gallagher from Crystal Dynamics made the deal with Microsoft, got fired by Square Enix, and now has a highly paid position at Microsoft as the studio head at "The Initiative". Talk about under-the-table agreement. :/
