@outlawauron
Selling 500K is actually quite good for a JRPG that is not part of the big three series(FF, DQ, KH). I am more dissapionted in the NA sales for the game. SO3 sold 740K in the US alone. Then again, the game ha sa disadvantage of being released around many big game. I hope that doesn't mean SO:TLH bombs.

SO1 in SO2's engine... It's an interesting experience, though it keeps reminding me that it isn't actually SO2 by the less intuitive menu system. Also, they really did a bit of a poor job of distributing skill point requirements for this one; I had all skillsets mastered long before level 99, let alone level 255.

But it is a good game. Overall, I think I prefer SO2, just the same. Mostly because I've played SO2 to death and know it like the back of my hand, admittedly.

Eh, look at Star Ocean 3's sales. SO isn't that popular in Japan. 200k+ is respectable.

Has anyone else played this for SNES? I did a few years back. It's a lot of fun. There are translation patches for the ROM if that's your thing.

@ highwaystar: it's the very first star ocean that came out originaly on SNES but never came out outside of Japan. This is a full remake of the game. The charaters are still in 2D but the rest is in 3D. There's also voice acting and anime cinematic.

The game goes a bit like, on planet Roak (underdevelopped) there's a mysterious desease that turns people into stone. So the main characters who are from this planet, try to find a cure to it and on the way they bump into people from Earth... Then they go to the TimeGate on Styx to go back in time and find the source of it all and at same time find the first person who was affected so that they can make an antidote...

Anyways, it's not as big game as SO3 but it deserves to be played. If you want to play the original you can always dload it (rom) if you're not against that. If not well......Wait for the PSP version.
