Just Dance 2014 (Wii) > Opinions (31)

Plenty of games would still kill to have these sales.

I wish they would just release one Just Dance per year. I think JD Kids or any spin-offs are just a waste of money. The main series are what people love.

While four million overall is a huge profit, they lost half of their consumers from 4 to 2014. In general, it's huge loss for such a profitable franchise, but I see Just Dance going the same route as Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Ultimately fading out from the industry, maybe not forever, but for a while. No growth on any of the platforms and while the launch sales could be considered decent for the X1 and PS4, even then it's less than the Wii U's launch. I don't know how much money gets put into JD games, but if next years game cuts down another 50%, I can see it being the last JD for a long time. I'm not even sure if MS has plans for a Dance Central game on the X1.

I wonder if it'll really bottom out (under 1m). It's probably still very profitable for them.

whole series already 2.5m or ~40% down over JD4. Probably a bit over 5m lifetime.
JD 2015 might not even make it to 3m combined.

Over half a million sales and the #2 position the week before Xmas! This series is not as dead as I thought. It just needs help finding an 8th gen home.

Tough times for Ubisoft... the JD games were such a succulent, fat cash cow. It's a given the profits derived from it were funding their AAA HD endeavors, it would seem they're going to have to find some other way to take care of that, now.

LOL to all the people who cant count or are ignoring numbers, the sales have gone done, fact. This isnt about casuals moving to phones or toilets or whatever this game is already tracking below last years. These arent impressive numbers this is the norm for any series that goes annual that is not a sports game, the bubble WILL burst its not a matter of if but when. No one abanoned anything but people are losing interest.

Don't know why people are surprised lol.
You thought it's gonna sell negative amounts or so when the previous did almost 7m on Wii ?
Doesn't change the fact though that Just Dance is massively declining.
From 7m (JD1) to 9.3m (JD2) to 12.2m (JD3) to 8.2m (JD4) and now JD2014 already tracking 1.8m below JD4. The next weeks are only going to add to that number.

Attention to those that say that casual gamers are a market that can't come back to Nintendo systems: these sales suggest that many off them never left! A game on seven year old hardware that was considered underpowered upon release selling this much is impressive to say the least.

Proof that not all casuals have abandoned ship... wasn't that week Black Friday? I'm not familiar with US holiday shopping habits but I guess many of them were Christmas gifts.

While I'm not exactly surprised, it is pretty amazing just how well these games are able to do year after year, especially considering the Wii's age now.

Who'd have thought that the Wii would have another million-seller released nearly seven years after it launched?

Among other things, Wii sales plummeted, the franchise was already dwindling from JD3 to JD4, the new Wii U is not a motion oriented console, sales in general for non-GTA5 games have been bad this year, and the title may have thrown a few people off. This will probably end up doing alright in the end, especially across platforms, but I think that Just Dance is to recent years what Guitar Hero was to the early 7th gen.
