The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (XOne) > Opinions (25)

Console versions are undertracked here @Dadrik. Since it sold 6m on the 1st six weeks and the split was 30/70 between PC and consoles, the numbers for the XOne/PS4 combined should be ~4.2 million for the 1st six weeks, and instead they are ~2.87 million.

One of the best RPGs since like 5-10 years, deifnitely one of the games of the year, and it only reaches 1m after 7 months :/

I wish games like this one were the ones selling 5-6M

@fireburn - Those exclusive marketing deals aren't worth much in my opinion. For example, Black Ops III is gonna sell many copies on X1 well regardless of the Sony's exclusive marketing. Destiny also sold well on X1.

People will buy a game on whatever machine they have. A lot of people interested in Witcher 3 had PS4, so that's the version they bought.

Personally I feel Witcher 3 should have been bundled with every X1 during that period. But MS will have other opportunities to push hardware, like this coming holiday.

Can't deny though Puggsly, a wasted marketing deal. Microsoft literally advertised this game to the sony fanbase moreso than their own.

Relax, it will get to a million eventually. Surprisingly it seems more X1 users wanted Elder Scrolls Online over this.

I actually bought this digitally but I just havent been in the mood to play it. Now other stuff is getting my interest.

Still hasn't reach 1 million. Utterly butterly embarassing. I mean with no retail exclusive until July, you'd think the xbox base would want to buy some of these far and few AAA releases.

@firebur95 - Again, take into consideration this a popular series in Europe. That gave the PS4 a big sales edge for this game.
Elder Scrolls Online actually had a bigger opening on X1 than this. I didnt anticipate that.

Sorry what I was meant to say, despite mkx being less than ps4 as expected, the ratio was better than the console ratio. Neither company had marketing on that game. For an open-world AAA I just expected it to sell much better than 400k week1 on xbone

Ps4:xb1 ratio is 2:1
Witcher 3 ratio on ps4:xb1 is 3:1
So there is something to point out here. Maybe ps4' just have a larger install base, or maybe xbox owners just are waiting for something else.
But considering the lack of games before this one it is surprising. MK didn't exactly sell gangbusters on xb1

It will be close to 2 million at the end of the year and about 4 or 5 million lifetime.

People are down the lower numbers of the X1, but these are still very respectable numbers for a port. I think this will achieve 2 million down the road.

Man, really low numbers compared to PS4. But i'm proud to be one of the 700k people that bought it. :(

Just to clarify by userbase difference I mean the PS4 has sold about 10 million more than the Xbox One has.

@fireburn Honestly what are you trying to say? Your posts are confusing. There is a userbase difference between the PS4 and Xbox One, so of course it's going to sell more on PS4.

These sales doesn't need to be at PS4 level to consider "enough", these are pretty decent sales so it looks like these are "enough" so yeah.

Moving past the hard bundles, why didn't enough xbox one current owners buy it then?

fireburn95 posted 08/07/2015, 01:15
Clearly the sales on ps4 showed their was demand for the game, it just needed to be marketed right to xbox one fans.
It's ironic how every PS marketing hard bundle has sold well, USA and UK, but when it's an xbox game it is 'nobody really wanted that game'

Roronaa, a hard bundle is where the game is included in the box, not sold separately but packaged together from Sony, Ms instead of retailers

@fireburn again there are better bundles people are waiting for it wasn't such a big demand or a really big promotion for it. I live in the USA and I didn't find large numbers of promotions where I live, just because you see them in the UK doesn't mean an equal amount of it is happening here.

I'm pretty sure this is an xb1 hard bundle: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/consoles/witcher

@fireburn Those bundles weren't even "hard" there wasn't such a big demand for those. It was just a regular console with just the game.

Kinda embarassing really.
Microsoft just cannot capitalise on their marketing partnership, plus hard bundles.
