Most tracking organizations don't count bundled software when deciding how well a game sells, particularly not if the bundle is mandatory (which SMB1 was for much of the NES' life). SMB3 was, until a few years ago, the best-selling game to not garner the majority of its sales through bundling. Message | Report |

I have a NES "Challenge Set" dated 1992 that includes SMB3 bundled in. On the original box it says: Super Mario Brothers 3 "The best-selling home video game ever" Was this a lie or has Super Mario 1 managed to sell the majority of it's copies in the years since this? Message | Report |

I remember playing this game for hours when I was a kid. I think it was my favorite of the NES Mario Bros. games. I did like playing Super Mario World also. We just downloaded SMB3 on the Wii. It brings back memories :). Message | Report |

I now own this game via Wii Virtual Console and it is AWESOME! I own all the major Super Mario games including Super Mario Bros 1, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 2 The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros 3 -- the best of them all -- and best of the best -- Super Mario 64, Super Mario World, on Wii Game Disc I own Super Paper Mario and will soon own Super Mario Galaxy. sorry for the double post but i had to spill my love for this game again from the level design to the music, even the weird kupa kids. Power ups from a raccoon suit to a boot you could get in. taking on an angry sun, or beating up on gigantic fish. gambling to get extra lives, trying to plan out levels to get stuff before the other player could get it. and Pwings, god those were great. I still boot this up and play, i think ill go play some right now Message | Report |

It took me a YEAR to beat this game back in kindergarten. That was before I knew the two flute trick in the desert level. I remember that was back when the news was friendly to games: there was a segment once on the pit you can get stuck in before bowser forcing you to start all over. Now thats hardcore. Possibly the only video game to have an Entire movie hype it (The Wizard), but really blew away everyone's expectations. Even hyped as it was, simply proved to be such a leap and such a good game, there should be no hesitation to play it. Message | Report |
