Mario Party 9 (Wii) > Opinions (30)

This game is awesomeness on a disc. No more Mario Party shit from the GC era with mini games shoved down your throat everytime someone scratches their ass in the game. Plus the mini and end boss battles are super fun... bout time the clean up the MP series. Its a shame the MP 8 was such a stinking boring pile of garbage.

Taking its release date into account, this sold very well!

3 Million. Not bad for a Wii game released in 2012.

Lol 2.77m. And people said this game was pointless. Then it became the #3 Mario Party ever, only surpassed by 8 and DS .

I knew this game would beat the 2 million mark. Well, good for Mario Party, hopefully they will make one that manages to cut out the veichile mechanic.

You forgot kirby johsobas. This game here is doing surprisingly well! 2 million by 2013 I bet.

i would say DQX and epic mickey 2 are a given, lego batman 2 is a strong possibility too. Otherwise the only million sellers are gonna be ones that are already released.

the last? Well i don't even have to look at a release list, DQX is coming out soon.

@Iveyboi Even though it's dying, there are over 90 million potential buyers. Many of these people enjoy party or Mario games, particularly the millions who bought Wii Party or Mario Party 8. Combine that with surprisingly solid, if not spectacular, reviews, and a million sold over a couple of months makes sense.

Plus, the cover art is really eye catching.

I have a feeling we could get 5-10 more million sellers on the wii before the end. Including games that are already close.

Nice to see Nintendo not only selling, but going over a millions units and this could possibly be a 2 million seller in the future. Wii obviously still has gas left in the tank and hopefully steady sales like this are a preview of good things to come for the Wii U.

I think this will hit a million next week. That should make this the Wii's 136th million seller.

I told in the USA pre-order thread that MP9 will bomb (compared to MP8)... But oooooohhhh no, don't believe me.

I wonder if the sales will pick up.

If Skyward Sword wasn't enough proof, Mario Party 9 is the icing on the cake - Games won't sell as well on the Wii anymore, even from Nintendo. Still, at least Skyward Sword did good. This is kind of dead, and once Wii U releases, the Wii's momentum will drop like a rock.

Good sales. Easily a million seller.

This may not live up to series expectations, but it can easily pass a million with Japan. Not bad for a mediocre title on a dying system.

@ROFLMAO I don't really see how it's a hug improvement. It's a great Mario Party game, but I don't know why they took out teams in Party Mode. 4 is the worst in the series IMO. Never played 1,3 or Advanced though. Otherwise I'm sure it's Advanced.

It is a HUGE improvement over 8 and the kick in the arse the franchise needed. Best one since 4 without a doubt. Haven't found a minigame I didn't like yet.

For any other game, these launch week numbers would be a flop. But this is a Mario game and it will have long legs....or will it? Wii is on life support and Wii U launching before the Holidays. Won't come close to MP8 though.

50,000 is def. not going to cut it. But America should give it well over 100,000 by itself in its first week. I can only imagine that Japan will love it as well. Good word of mouth and promotion should give it decent legs through the end of the year. Backwards compatibility should help as well.

I'm guessing this will sell at least 3 million, despite it releasing at such a bad time in the Wii's life.

Didn't Nintendo say this game would come out this fall? I hope the quality returns to what it was on N64, but I doubt it.
