FADE (Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment) is reporting their estimates on Steam sales during the first quarter of 2011, and is stating that Steam made just under $200M USD in revenue, and Total War: Shogun 2 was the best-selling Steam game during that period.

Nilli why do you only believe just Vgchartz numbers? We all know that Vgchartz still cannot chart pc sales properly. Bad company sold 3 million on pc still it shows just 600,000 copies on Vgchartz. How is it credible then?

This game sold like utter crap. This series is on life support. Only reason this is on pc only is because of M&K. Every single total war game has been a copy of the previous with better graphics. Anybody who pays for these games is a moron. Most of the people couldn't care less or pirate it. These sales are absolutely terrible. 9/10 in reviews and this are the sales LOL! never would have happened to a console game.

nilli, even with proof in your face, that PC can sell like hot cakes, you still deny it, you're like a religious zealot hehe, somehow i don't see you commenting on games with shitty sales on consoles, I wonder why...

Noodelefighter so where does he state that MOST of the sales were done on pc? He never said that. Read the quotes about what Farrell said. Basically he is saying this: "we are not telling how much the game sold because it sold like shit and nobody cared about it. But we made money since there were like 3 guys making the game and they did if for free." Only way to make money from pc is to keep the consts as low as possible. That is what they are saying. Metro sold like shit that is why they are not showing any sales numbers.

@nilli -_- "everyone in on the secret of how the game SOLD so well. He stated that most of SALES CAME FROM European PC GAMERS," They said most of their sales came from the PC version not sales done on it. "Farrell did reveal that Europe has accounted for roughly two-thirds of Metro 2033 sales, as forecast by the publisher, with North America buying up the remaining units sold. "A lot of the sales were done on PC," he added, "and a lot of the sales were also done through digital mechanisms that don't get captured by any service."

So can I borrow your fanboy goggless to see where it says that Metro 2033 sold more on pc? Because that is not what he they said. They said that alot of the sales were done on pc. But hey what ever I guess you cant read. The writer of the article is also a fanboy and put the pc in the title.

@nilli You want the source here http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/05/metro-2033-has-been-very-profitable-for-thq-ceo-says/ http://pixelsmashers.com/?p=1481 "HQ CEO Brain Farrell, let’s everyone in on the secret of how the game sold so well. He stated that most of sales came from European PC gamers, which may not be too surprising considering that some of the developers from the original STALKER were the masterminds behind Metro 2033." Metro 2033 is a shitty game ok The Orange Box, Bad company 2, and others are shitty games then. You're the idiot and the fanboy. Suggest they put an RTS on consoles as their only way of success wow XD

No I wouldn't because metro is a mediocre game at best. It sold shitty no matter where and nobody cares about that game. but nice for you to find one game that supposedly sold more on pc. What it sold 5 copies on pc and only 2 on 360 :D Oh almost forgot find me where they say that metro sold more on pc than on 360. They have never said that it sold more so STFU! IDIOT. You are a typical pc fanboy you read that "alot of the sales were done on pc" and think that it sold more. Idiot.

Metro LOL! Shit sales for metro all around. Nobody gives flying fuck about that shitty game. Please do tell me how much Metro sold? 20 thousand? :D What a joke. Oh and yep it is a dying serie if every release of the serie sells less and less. They are gonna milk this serie to the end basically adding a little and calling it another game. Some of the pc suckers still pay for these games lol.

@nilli yes I can I'm more then positive it has sold over 200k copies digitally. Since that Steam report for Q1 2011 has shown Shogun 2 Total war at the the top woth 198,000 units. If this is a dying series explain to me how they're already working on a new Total war. I like how you have no facts to back up the crap you say and go derp "it's a failure because I said so! derp!"

So you are telling me how well total war series is doing by telling me that Vanquish sold more units? LOL! Vanquish is a new IP and Total war serie has been around for 10 years. You really should STFU! If that does not show you the shitty state that pc gaming is I don't know what does. Oh and you have no freaking clue how much this game has sold through Digital distribution. Witcher 2 sold less then half so there is no way Shogun 2 has sold more. Like I said SHIT sales of a dying series on a dying platform.

@nilli so your going to try and use Retail sales only to determine it's a faillure. Another dying series? >.> strange how the devs are already working on a New Total War IP. This game has sold a lot more then this chart shows. Shogun 2 was released in March and when sega revealed the sales in may it was 600k copies and oh look Vanquish which was on 2 platforms (PS3 & Xbox 360) only sold 230k more copies then it. By now sales have increased on Digital distribution sites greatly. Creative Assembly has said they feel pretty comfy in the PC market. They tried the console market but their game Stormrise bombed since no one wants to play a consolized RTS X GTFOD

Buggy as hell, very poor support for Nvidia support, nod DX11 yet and not even AA! And even with all these very annoying flaws, its still a damn fine game and the best entry in the series since Rome.

I'm assuming most sales come from digital sales here. The game has been on Steam front page for weeks now, and it apparently it's the best game in the series in a long time.
