This would get a million and then some if they released it as part of a Nintendo Selects line in the US...

I can't imagine they're shipping many copies of this game...
I'll occasionally see it at a store like Target, but for the most part, there isn't a store in New York selling this game unless it's pre-owned...
It's certainly going to be hard to sell a million if they are no longer distributing it to retailers...

That's just it though, it wasn't a straight port, according to the Iwata Asks it was completely rebuilt while using the original game as a reference. You'd think with the established game they re-created in new code they could have make some DLC for it or something. Or make a identical designed sequel just make new planets/courses and new solar system to play through. I don't understand how this game hasn't even visited a different Galaxy, its really retarded. I want more StarFox even if the game play doesn't even change.

do we have official numbers for this of any kind at any point?

wonder if its undertracked like others are
still 720k plus digital sales is great for a enhanced straight port of a 15yr old game

this made a lot of money for Nintendo

They should announce a price drop ($20-30)on Nintendo direct to boost sales through the April-May drought. It's a great game but I know 40 is a lot for someone to cough up for at this point. Or they may just rely on digital sales from now.

@acdcste Oh man if you found andross annoying I would love to see your reaction to the star wolf team on expert mode venom, within 10 seconds into the stage they can have your wings off and half your team dead, it is a hair ripping experience but so great to nail them tho. One thing about Andross in this, I had forgotten a few of his lines of dialogue since it had been ages since I played the lower paths since you only really need to do them once to medal them and my N64 cart has been 100%'d for many years but yeah... a 7s rated game with the line "you will die.... just like your father" found it kinda chilling, he only says it on the easier path too so more likely kids will encounter it.

acdcste you are the majority as much as I love this game, absolutely none of my friends get the point in it either and going by the sales of this beautiful rerelease not a lot of others did either. Wouldn't lose much sleep over someone calling you young for not liking a game tho heh :)

@acdcste
if you fly from corneria to venom just once you have to have been playing on the easy difficulty, unlocking expert mode involves getting a medal on each stage which does require a minimum 3 play throughs to cover each lane fully.

That is where this game starts to punish and really get the adrenaline pumping. Fair enough tho, I guess its the same as the issues some people had with Mario 3d land that the ramp up time to really tough as nails gameplay was too long, but at the same time for 3ds games I guess its safeest to have a long difficulty curve ramping up so that kids buying the games will at least get a few hours of fun.

acdcste posted 07/08/2012, 12:01
@ganocrotch

Yes that was one playrough but not the easier difficulty, i went through the harder stages. Looks like we disagree about the merits of the game, i still say it was very underwhelming.

Ganoncrotch posted 18/07/2012, 03:18
@acdcste
if you completed this in 2 hours you mean you did one play through of it and probably on the lower difficulty where you do not see the real ending, that isn't what this game is about at all. you got 3 different modes all of which have their own sets of medals to be achieved on each stage there is about 20hours of play here even for vets of the n64 game... the only grip I have in the whoolllle damn thing, is the 100% complete title screen is an exact lift from the n64 game with no gyro control to move it around and you cannot revert to the original title screen without deleting all your data :o

Wrong Salnax. This was released at a time when it was easy to sell with the only must have game being Zelda. Star Fox might not be the biggest franchise but Nintendo would have expected far better sales than this. Like I said if it were not for US sales this would be a total flop.

Besides..it's shown that no matter what game is on the 3DS, it will sell worse than it normally would have if it had been on DS. People just aren't overly interested in a 3DS yet. Super Mario 3D Land probably won't sell more than 3 million.

Roar_Of_War posted 11/10/2011, 05:01
This is just a remake. Star Fox won't die because they still haven't made a new game in the series. If the next NEW Star Fox game releases on Wii U and does nothing impressive..well, at that point is when the franchise might be put on hold.
Message | Report
Salnax posted 10/10/2011, 08:33
@Just-Jo It's just that Nintendo seems to have been pretty doubtful about the Star Fox series recently. Admittedly this is a remake, but so what? Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time were far more sucessful N64 remakes on consoles. And Star Fox 64 is widely considered the top entry in the series. Heck, That DS remake of Kirby Super Star outsold the original. If Nintendo decides that a Star Fox game is not worth or barely worth the effort, they might decide to focus on other franchises instead.
