The first one is a classic, redefines the franchise and the genre, and has the best atmosphere out of the 3
The second one is more challenging, more complex, better in many ways
The 3rd one is the culmination, better grafix, more complex story, same level of challenge...but not as appealing
Overall this is a must have for every gamer out there...you should buy a Wii just for these 3 games

I really wanted this, but I saw Metroid Prime used at Gamestop for $3.99, as opposed to this game for $70+. I'm mostly just interested in the first game for now, so I'll get the other two later down the road for a much cheaper price if I'm interested.

I must admit though, i cheated and ebayed a metal tin for this for about a tenner p&p included, so i am well chuffed with my beautiful tin with PAL contents :)

i would defo have bought a tin for £50 instead of the normal which i got for £40, so its money well spent!

Could it be Metroid Other M is more imminent than we think? Not that it sold the same numbers at this stage, but I read somewhere they stopped production of Endless Ocean this month, just before Endless Ocean 2 comes out. Maybe they wanted to make people familiar with Metroid, but not have it eat Metroid Other M's sales (?) Just a theory, admittedly possibly a stupid one.

Voltair, I'd agree with Halo being Mainstream (obviously being the only HD title to cross 10m) but GOW? That series is about as Mainstream and Metroid is.

Voltaire posted 22/12/2009, 02:40
Metroid isnt a popular franchise. The gameplay isnt mainstream, easy, or some would say, fun.

Most Metroid games sell to a specific audience, and the series as a while will never have the mainstream appeal of something like Halo or God of War. Its niche, and the fact that its selling as much as it is is a testimate to the quality of the games.

@ Voltaire

I know! That sucks so hard. :(
Apparently, in the GC PAL Prime, they didn't disappear, but Trilogy seems to be a modified NTSC version, so in my precious PAL game they DO disappear, darnit!
So now I got 100% items and 99% scans. That makes me a sad panda. :(

Also, after finishing the game and you choose to save, it'll save a new game over your previous file, so you'll have to start again from the very beginning, like in Prime 3. Man.
You can choose not to save at that point, but then when you boot up your file you're still missing scans because you haven't beaten Metroid Prime yet.

Meh, so now I guess I actually WILL have to play though the entire game again just for those goddarn bats. I'm that kind of person. :p

I still need to play all of these games. I played the first one back in the day for about 4 hours but had a tough time with the controls. I think I'd like it more now though. Yes true, but we should also take into consideration that "other" is a broad catagory. Even though the game my be officially released in said "x" region, stores may be waiting for stock to arrive. I live in an urban Canadian area, and even we often have to wait 2-3 days after "official" release until retailers have the game on the shelf.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say next week sales in "other" will be higher then 10,136.

Europe sales are for 3 days, not a full week (released on the 4th in EU). That said the sales all around could be better for this, but we need to remember who the hardcore Wii users are, they are mostly the same people who were the GCN hardcore users, aka Prime 1 and Prime 2 owners.
Mario All Stars had the J version of Mario 2, it wasn't just a rerelease, and the Orange Box had Portal, a new game. I think it's not all doom and gloom though. With christmas coming a sales spike is ensured, and Metroid Other M should also give this a much needed boost when it launches.
