They should've just made KotoR3, would've made them a lot more money. I hope everyone learned their lesson here.

I wasn't even considering buying this game because it was subscription based. But now that it's free-to-play, I might buy and play through the main story, just to satisfy my curiosity.

is that a record btw? 7 months after launch and it's now completely free to play. I know DC:UO was faster but that was helped by sony online being hacked and taken down for almost 2 months right after the game launched.

Even if this had just cost EA the minimum estimated dev cost of 200million dollars that is a cost of $952000 per day for each day of the 7 months this game was online as a subscription based game.

That is ofc not including the costs of running a fantastic customer support team yelling at anyone with legit complaints to go back to wow (which they all seem to have done) and the costs of hiring a whole team just to go around msg boards and forums to build up hype and positivity for this rubbish.

Bring on KotoR3...

along with free to play til lvl 15 and the fact that you can buy this in gamestop here for about 15-20euros now sales will probably go up a little bit, but this is a dead duck in terms of making back the 200-300m spent on voice acting for it, you really don't need that much money spent to hire A-List celebs to voice a quest where you go and kill 6 space boars. funny out the comments here from clos3 trying to call out someone for predicting this would bomb? oddly hasn't commented much in the last while, wonder why.

A shame that it has done so little . I've only played the beta as of yet , but i do want to get it at some point . I really hope it will survive and have a strong community .
I also hope that it will not go free to play on one side . Simply because i hope it will be better supported that way .

Sorry RaitheNoblesse, but you can not play the game alone, you have to sign into a server and to do so you must have an account. You get 30 days when you buy the game, but after that you must buy monthly time.

RaitheNoblesse posted 04/03/2012, 04:41
EA should have brought this to the 360 and PS3 too.., but they probably wanted to make $$$ with the monthly fees, wich they coulnd't have asked for on the consoles
(360 already has the "golden membership", and the PS3 online is for free)..., hope many but the game, but stop playing "online", it can be played alone; eventhough I love Bioware, this "monthly fee" thing for MMORPG should be illegal, just make $$$ with DLCs, that's enough

that and some french/german buyers do play on english servers ;-p
Message | Report
Hephaestos posted 04/02/2012, 10:11
i mean, you don't put 17% of your servers to match 5% of sales (french numbers here are 40K out of 700K). so the repartition is obviously wrong.
Message | Report
Hephaestos posted 04/02/2012, 10:06
The EU repartition is all wrong. there is no way that germany is 50% of sales.
Server repartition (actuall numbers) is 45 UK/EU 30 Germany 16 France, all but a few UK/EU at standard/heavy pop.

of the 700K Eu sales it should be about 200K Germany, 50K surrounding countries (austria, switzerland and other countries where german>English), 200K UK and 150K EU countries and 90K France, 10K surrounding countries (belgium, switzerland and other countries where FR>English)

It was 2.06 last week, more than the total of 1.7 that the sales history showed, and now it matches but it is down... this site is a mess right now with its numbers

Well, this is an MMO with monthly subscription, so sales are likely to drop, but unlike non MMO games, they continue to sell well years after initial launch. Also, this is only retail number and not official.

Huge drop in retail sales is to be expected for a pc game but the second week sales are still amazing for a pc game.Still beats Skyrim's second week sales on Pc.Pretty sure the digital sales are huge.

So I bet the publisher needs to stop bring Dark souls 2 into Xbox360 because the sales are so shitty. They can consider PCversion as the replacement, look at this Skyrim PC sales, several times better than that POS on XBOX360... Also this SWTOR, great RPG always got good sales on PC not like Xbox360 only buys certain brand doesn't care for real WRPG

This game has been highly anticipated.. Sony had released Star Wars Galaxies back in 2000.. initially it was great, but Sony scrwed it up after about 1 year they turned it into "Everquest" and most people left the game in protest..Fortunately I sold my Jedi on ebay months before this happened.. There's ALOT of hope riding behind this game.. it looks ot be awesome !
