VGchartz might have undertracked this big time. As of 2/7, the game has sold 680,000 copies according to Sega Sammy.
oniyide (on 06 February 2014)
I think Sonic Boom will cut the legs from this game a bit
supernihilist (on 04 February 2014)
next week will crack 200k retail
better have good legs
supernihilist (on 30 January 2014)
i think is pretty good game. bought it for 40$
was totally worth it
TrevDaRev (on 27 January 2014)
Huge disappointment for me. Pretty disappointing sales aswell. Should've never been exclusive to Nintendo systems, especially when the PS4 & XBONE launches were just around the corner.
subsamuels (on 09 January 2014)
Looks like Japan couldn't care less about Sonic, that or the game is undertracked.
novasonic (on 08 January 2014)
Call me crazy, but I bet this will slowly but surely creep its way to a million sold.
Legendary_W (on 07 January 2014)
I personally expect this to have decent legs unless another Sonic game comes out.
subsamuels (on 26 December 2013)
Just bought this game on boxing day, loved the Demo. I don't get why it was reviewed bad, its a great platformer.
IMP_ervious (on 19 December 2013)
@Pillow Hopefully the Nintendo themed DLC will help convince people that are on the fence about this game. At the very least, it'll show them that Sega is still supporting the game and fixed some of the issues people had.
That said, I really don't think it's as bad as the reviews make it seem and all of the Miiverse comments I've seen seem to be very positive.
supernihilist (on 18 December 2013)
this game will have legs im sure bout
500k is still possible? maybe
Pillow (on 18 December 2013)
Yoshi DLC out now. I wonder if we'll see a boost in sales.
Screamapillar (on 15 December 2013)
So the Black Friday bounce is great and all, but when it's an increase of 116% from a number as low as 3k, then it just doesn't mean as much. SEGA has got to be really unhappy with these sales. Nintendo as well.
leedlelee (on 10 December 2013)
This is ridiculous...
I expected Japan not to care about this game, but the US numbers surprise me because I've actually seen a good amount of advertising for this game...
More than I saw for Pikmin 3 or Lego City...
Screamapillar (on 03 December 2013)
@Kresnik Exactly. What the hell happened here? Even if the low scores from the press, this game should be selling at a decent pace throughout the holidays. This is not a good sign for Wii U's chances this Christmas.
Kresnik (on 01 December 2013)
oniyide (on 13 November 2013)
06 went on to sell a million but at what cost? Pretty sure most of those sales came from bargaing basement prices and Sega is in no position for this to sell at bargain basement prices, not to mention this game got more hyped and was "supposed" to move some WIi Us according to some
Salnax (on 13 November 2013)
I don't see why everyone is upset. Beyond the obvious I mean. This game got some of the worst reviews for a Sonic since 06, and opened higher than 06 in America. And come to think of it, Week 1 in America is higher than either the PS3 or 360 version of the game, both of which sold about a million. Hell, if this game has legs similar to Secret Rings on the Wii, it can easily sell 1.5 million lifetime.
NoirSon (on 13 November 2013)
If you can't sell a decent Sonic game exclusive on your console after previous successes what will?
Nintendo apologists like to think Nintendo can still do fine with no one but Nintendo selling on the system but failures like this do nothing to help the system nor Nintendo actually willingness to support it long term.
oniyide (on 12 November 2013)
I really hope Ninty flip at least some of the bill on this, because having thing exclusive to Wii u was clearly a mistake. Cause if Sega just did it for the hell of it, then oh boy.
FarleyMcFirefly (on 10 November 2013)
I cannot get over the poor reception and sales of this game.
It is great! Deserves to be a million seller!
Nem (on 05 November 2013)
These numbers are tragic. Only 3 possible scenarios from here: port it to 360/PS3 when the agreement permits, no choice but to work on Sonic adventure 3 next or the death of the blue blur. I guess this type of look doesnt work for sonic. I think aside from that that these numbers are difficult to understand.
DélioPT (on 04 November 2013)
@Meret: Unfortunately, it`s true. Don`t understand how it lost so much popularity, but it did.
FarleyMcFirefly (on 04 November 2013)
These numbers don't make sense... It released in NA on the 29th, yet it says that week ending 26th it sold nearly 20 k
Meret (on 04 November 2013)
@DélioPT Japan absolutely doesn't care about Sonic anymore (like 10 years or so), so that's not a surprise. Even 3DS version (most popular console in Japan right now) bombed hard there. Only Mario & Sonic series selling, lol
spurgeonnintendoryan (on 02 November 2013)
Eeewww... I think Sega will rethink their partnership with Nintendo after this. I hope the 3DS version did much better. Of course, it did get mediocre reviews across the board. That did not help.
drakesfortune (on 02 November 2013)
Eesh, terrible sales. I guess this will be the last Sonic game, no? Or, the last sonic game without Mario in the title.
DélioPT (on 01 November 2013)
This game managed to have better 1st week sales in Europe despite the difference in userbase. But at the same time it did worse in Japan - about half i think.
Let`s see how it did in the States.
swii26 (on 31 October 2013)
Does this game have a save function to continue on the go?
FarleyMcFirefly (on 30 October 2013)
Amazing game! Bought both versions bc they have completely different levels!
Don't judge this game based on its reviews!
think-man (on 30 October 2013)
Outsold by KZ merc in the UK :O
MegaDrive08 (on 27 October 2013)
How come there's no sales up yet? its been out over a week now.
