Summary

The game is the sequel to the first God of War that also came out on the PS2. The story continues with Kratos returning as the god of war only to be lured into a trap by Zeus because of his danger on the other gods. Almost immediately you find yourself in human form having to battle massive amount of soldiers, mythological creatures and monsters in order to turn back time and stop your fall from godhood.

The game is definitely the god of war experience again, with lots of action, a good solid story, great music and very high production values. The most unique aspect of the game are the very impressive boss fights. Whether it's a hero from Greek mythology you are battling or a gigantic monster or creature (lots of them), you will experience really fun encounters that mesh timing, combat and epic to perfection.

If there was one word to describe this game it would be epic. From the story to the main character Kratos (a larger than life figure), everything is like a brand new Greek myth being added to the legends of old. You constantly encounter situations and figures from Greek mythology who are made to fit the story in a very effective way usually.

The game is longer than the first at about 11-13 hours long. From the first level, the game doesn't hold back and pits you against a huge battle that will blow you away, setting the scene for the rest of the game. You will face a little puzzle solving here and there, but it is mostly combat.

One of the most interesting components of the game are the quick time events which set you up to press certain buttons and turn the joystick in certain directions to laungh Kratos into crazy moves against his foes. These are spread out among boss fights and regular enemies and spice up the action, not letting it get repetitive.

On top of all this, there is rarely a game on the PS2 that looks better than this one and there is an arena mode that you can play to push yourself and see how long you can survive against enemies. If you are an action fan this is definitely a game worth checking out.

What is this? Sony fanboy vs Sony fanboy?!? Joker is entitled to his own opinion. Trolling or not. As an owner myself of the God of War Trilogy, God of War 2 in my opinion is the best.

@Joker, maybe it is in your worthless asinine opinion Mr. Philistine. I, millions of fans and 99.9% of the critics think otherwise, a game with an average of 93% is mediocre? Then what does that make one of your favourites Yakuza 3 Mr. Philistine? Total shit I'd say ;) Like all the GOW games, GOW3 was a masterpiece and the best in the series imo (GOS is a very close 2nd). GOW2 just passed 2 million in America! Great stuff! :)
