A boy who adopted his deceased foster father's life long dream of being a super hero, Emiya Shirō wishes to bring about a world where everyone smiles. He unknowingly winds up in a lethal war known as the Holy Grail War. A war in which seven people known as Masters, accompanies by seven servants fight for the right to obtain the Holy Grail, said to be an ominpotent object able to grant any wish.
His life defended by the servant known as Saber, the player is able to play as Shirō and go through three different scenarios in which the player controls the choices of Shirō and learns more about the history of the Holy Grail War, the participants in it, and Shirō's inner character.
