| NintendoFanDj (on 24 March 2012) It is at gamestop for $10 so it should increase | |
| Tayne (on 09 February 2012) Was wandering where this game was at. Glad to see it breached a million. | |
| Metroid33slayer (on 20 January 2012) This is not in the same league as prime 1,2 & 3 which were amongst the best games ever | |
| Cubeninja (on 17 January 2012) The best story in a metroid game ever! | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 09 January 2012) This game is like $10 now, so yes. Price cuts pushed this game along pretty well. At that price, even the skeptical people will probably give it a try. I think Best Buy even had it for $5 on black friday. | |
| oniyide (on 08 January 2012) must've been a price cut?? This game has been selling below 30 bucks for months? Not trying to say its not an accomplishment, I like Other M | |
| Arfen (on 08 January 2012) 1 million!! :) this game deserves it | |
| *Yoshi* (on 07 January 2012) Finally!, million seller! | |
| fedfed (on 07 January 2012) wow it did i... incredible i guess there was a price cut somewhere in the world... | |
| Salnax (on 07 January 2012) This ultimately did alright. | |
| Smeags (on 06 January 2012) Huh... I never expected this game to hit a million. Congratulations are in order I suppose. ^_^ | |
| atma998 (on 06 January 2012) Yay one more million seller! | |
| Fededx (on 06 January 2012) Well finally, million seller :) | |
| Sccop (on 05 January 2012) Pretty good game, finishing up one more game then I'll finish it | |
| Fededx (on 03 January 2012) zzamaro, yours is the most stupid comment I've read in a while, congratulations. | |
| fedfed (on 03 January 2012) wow another mil seller for Wii | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 03 January 2012) Well, it took some massive price cuts, black friday deals, the holidays and a whole lot of time, but its finally going to be a worldwide million seller. | |
| atma998 (on 31 December 2011) 991k and on its way to the million! | |
| zzamaro (on 29 December 2011) arfen and fededx, looks the same guy to me lol | |
| Arfen (on 23 December 2011) 950k | |
| swii26 (on 22 December 2011) Great Team Ninja Project!! | |
| Fededx (on 16 December 2011) Come on Samus, we know you can!!! :P | |
| Arfen (on 16 December 2011) 934k | |
| Billmaster17 (on 10 December 2011) GET To 1 million | |
| Arfen (on 09 December 2011) 918k | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 09 December 2011) should hit 1m for Samu's sake! | |
| Venox2008 (on 06 December 2011) a million is nearby! :) | |
| Arfen (on 06 December 2011) 906k | |
| coyot3 (on 30 November 2011) I got it for $10 a few days after black Friday. Not too shabby | |
| supermariouniverse (on 27 November 2011) saw this for 5 dollars on black friday :O | |
| Sccop (on 25 November 2011) It's a good game, it's just the standard set by the Prime series is so high people were bound to be disapointed | |
| Arfen (on 19 November 2011) 883k | |
| Sfaralli (on 04 November 2011) Will it reach a million? | |
| Sfaralli (on 29 October 2011) this must be a FPS | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 28 October 2011) A decline in the US, a big decline in EMEAA, but an improvement in Japan (compared to the Prime series). | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 26 October 2011) GO SAMUS!! | |
| Arfen (on 25 October 2011) nice to see this game is still climbing.. go samus, you can do it!! ;) | |
| gumby_trucker (on 02 October 2011) @Salnax Metroids made of Yarn FTW!! | |
| Salnax (on 30 September 2011) Regardless of how you all feel about this game, I think its safe to say that it will be a one of a kind in this series. The question is, where should the series go from here? Both the traditional and Prime style games were sucessful, both on consoles and handhelds. Perhaps the series should take another generation long break? Another part of me wonders what a 2D Wii U title from Good-Feel would be like... oh the joys of speculation. | |
| stitch55555 (on 28 September 2011) this game deserves better sales in Europe :( ; to see if after Christmas gets the million mark | |
| Venox2008 (on 11 September 2011) people can buy it and play on Wii-U too.. because there are people who didn't buy Wii | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 06 September 2011) It's hard to say if this will ever reach 1 million. It's getting closer but the legs aren't good enough by the time the Wii U will release. | |
| Haze (on 06 September 2011) this game ruined samus for me | |
| Venox2008 (on 30 August 2011) stop trolling..it's a great game.. | |
| Lord_Yggdrassil (on 28 August 2011) LEts hope it never reaches 1m. terrible game. Death of MEtoid. | |
| Venox2008 (on 27 August 2011) go Samus! (waiting for new adventures on 3DS and Wii U) | |
| spurgeonryan (on 24 August 2011) Its been a while since I checked on this game. It has gone up about 500,00 since I checked last believe so its doing alright! | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 19 August 2011) it will make it, it's selling slow right now but we have christmas as well | |
| Sfaralli (on 19 August 2011) I don't believe that it can reach the million mark.... | |
| Arfen (on 07 August 2011) so many shops has this game at 29'95 and even less!! hope people buy the game coause it deserves | |
| swii26 (on 07 August 2011) Maybe 1mil by years end?? | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 23 July 2011) let's not forget that Wii is wide open to piracy, and pirates are core gamers mostly | |
| Arfen (on 21 July 2011) great storyline!! much more for an action game. | |
| spurgeonryan (on 03 July 2011) It is on sale I think for 19.99 at blockbuster. I think it was either 1up.com or EGM that made a case for us to start buying games new instead of used. | |
| palves (on 19 June 2011) love this game | |
| scottie (on 11 June 2011) Just bought it on sale. Lets see how it goes. if only exams would be over already | |
| Sfaralli (on 10 June 2011) @ mysticwolf : I know it don't sell much, but now it is selled at a budget price yet. I think that if it will be included in the "nintendo select" it will have much more visibility | |
| mysticwolf (on 05 June 2011) I just finished it, and it was amazing!!! | |
| mysticwolf (on 31 May 2011) @sfaralli, probably not, cuz it didn't sell much | |
| Sfaralli (on 30 May 2011) I hope it will be included in the Nintendo select team | |
| Arfen (on 20 May 2011) Now this game is bundled with the wii resort pack at 179, 95€.. maybe an increase in sales soon | |
| CrystalDay (on 12 May 2011) @Squeakthedragon: I totally agree. And the hate for this game is very exaggerated. It's a very good game. People should really give it a try - especially now when it's as cheap as it is all over the world. I hear it's about 20$. | |
| Squeakthedragon (on 08 May 2011) I honestly suspect this is one game whose initial sales were hurt by the insane, over the top fanboy backlash. Word of mouth on the street was that the game was "pure shit, WORST GAME EVAR!!" It had to have scared thousands, if not tens of thousands, of fans away who ordinarily would have given it a shot. The other problem is that "hardcore" players who demand hardcore games on the Wii never buy them when they actually come out. Other M is still better than 90% of overblown, big budget disasters on the HD consoles that still sell millions. The hardcore won't touch a Wii game however, even if it is aimed at them. | |
| primogen18 (on 05 May 2011) very weak sales, and people said only Nintendo titles do well on Wii, well look at Goldeneye and Black ops and compare them to this... | |
| Arfen (on 02 May 2011) 5k this week!! c'mon Samus! | |
| Arfen (on 28 April 2011) i hope this game reach 1million at least. dinamic action, well depurate controls, deep and emotive story ( rare in an action game).. Samus I believe in you | |
| Fededx (on 28 April 2011) It's got some legs, hope it's enough to reach at least 1 million sometime during 2011 | |
| spurgeonryan (on 27 April 2011) Well wii has about a year left, so I feel confident this will break a million | |
| Venox2008 (on 23 April 2011) it's a great game and it needs to sell well | |
| spurgeonryan (on 19 April 2011) Well as long as they keep selling it and keep it strong through the holidays (even with a diminished Wii) it should go past 1 million by the end of the year. Who thinks that is wrong? | |
| forest-spirit (on 16 April 2011) @Conegamer: I'm happy if it hits 900k at this point. :-P | |
| Conegamer (on 10 April 2011) Should hopefully hit 1mil soon | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 30 March 2011) the sales are bad, for a metroid game | |
| Galvanizer (on 21 March 2011) I hope it hits 1 million worldwide. The sales are really bad in Europe. :-( | |
| AngryAztec (on 19 March 2011) Hey, 790k are not bad sales for a game like this. Despite the bad rap it got in the media, it sales numbers are pretty good. | |
| AOK Games (on 09 March 2011) @darkgemini Yes, you could backtrack in Fusion. If you played it, you'd know. Some areas would be blocked off, but not forever, unlike Other M which requires you to beat the game first. | |
| spurgeonryan (on 07 March 2011) Well I dont even think the prime games sold 2 million. Im would just be happy with 1 milion. | |
| itachi-89 (on 04 March 2011) even if the prime series was a masterpiece this game deserve 2m, is it undertracked ? | |
| Arfen (on 27 February 2011) fun game. great deep story. a good first step in another direction from prime series ;) love samus! | |
| darkgemini (on 23 February 2011) funny, one creator of metroid has ruined his own game xD | |
| Dinomax (on 22 February 2011) Sakamoto has ruined metroid. Give the series back to Retro. | |
| darkgemini (on 22 February 2011) @ AOK: You could backtrack in fusion? When? Once you´ve reached a dataroom the doors were closed. In OM all doors were opened in the end, but in fusion you couldn´t even collect missiles, even if you find out how to get them... | |
| UnstableGriffin (on 22 February 2011) @Dinomax Worst. Useless comment. Ever. | |
| AOK Games (on 21 February 2011) @darkgemini Um, no, Fusion was not this linear. In fact, Other M is the only game in the series that has doors LOCK BEHIND YOU just to prevent you from backtracking (which leads to a gamebreaking glitch, I might add). Face it: the only reason Other M is considered a Metroid game is because of the title; it plays like a Metroid game just as much as Link's Crossbow Training plays as a real Zelda game. | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 20 February 2011) i hope it reaches 1m | |
| darkgemini (on 18 February 2011) fusion was even more linear :) Metroid 2 wasn´t that unlinear, the way you killed the metroids defined the way you have to go.. SM & M 1 weren´t linear, yes, but OM belongs to the classic canon, its no prime game, most people forget about this, and metroid isn´t only prime! (even if I love the prime series ^^) | |
| AOK Games (on 18 February 2011) @darkgemini Which old school Metroid game did you play that was this linear? | |
| Dinomax (on 16 February 2011) Worst. Metroid. Ever. | |
| darkgemini (on 16 February 2011) Maybe it doesn´t feel like a prime game, but like an oldschool metroid game ;) | |
| robzo100 (on 15 February 2011) Gotta be honest. I thought this game blew. I did play through the whole thing, even the final secret boss (which was cool). But nothing like the caliber of the prime games | |
| hankakacjd (on 06 February 2011) I absolutely loved this game, the storyline, the cinematics, the boss battles, music. everything. buy this game at amazon for £10, now that's cheap for a brand new game | |
| progstarmac (on 05 February 2011) this game will reach 1 million eventually... this game is really good and deserves more sales, but the music is awful poor compositions and boring music in my opinion | |
| darkgemini (on 02 February 2011) me too... I loved this movie-like scences... | |
| josewiisantos (on 02 February 2011) I hope it didnt turn off nintendo from making cinematic video games... | |
| josewiisantos (on 02 February 2011) I thought for sure it was going to hit 1 million earlier. | |
| MiSan7573 (on 31 January 2011) this game is hard to get 100% | |
| bezi84 (on 29 January 2011) I love this game! Really deserves more sales. | |
| Fededx (on 28 January 2011) Yes it is, deserves at least 2 millions! | |
| hankakacjd (on 25 January 2011) this is such a fantastic game so far. pryospere is my current location! | |
| Nintendogamer (on 25 January 2011) Vas- lol not the first time it's happened. | |
| Vas-y (on 23 January 2011) Argh, again the same mistake. Mistook the search option with the add option. Good night. | |
| Vas-y (on 23 January 2011) xenoblade | |
| reallyfun (on 22 January 2011) Why did this game bomb? Metroid at worst ususally sells at least a million. I do have a HUGE gripe with this game though: the lack of analog controls. Maybe people didn't like that as well?? | |
| reallyfun (on 22 January 2011) Why did this game bomb? Metroid at worst ususally sells at least a million. I do have a HUGE gripe with this game though: the lack of analog controls. Maybe people didn't like that as well?? | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 21 January 2011) It won't reach a million. This game is over-tracked on VGchartz. Even if it wasn't over-tracked, it still wouldn't reach a million. It'll stop selling before that happens. | |
| mehm (on 21 January 2011) 013. [WII] Metroid: Other M (Nintendo) {2010.09.02} - 71.410 till 2nd January 2011 (Famitsu). This is hugely overtracked in Japan | |
| jagleics (on 21 January 2011) This game is now only £9.99 in the uk from Game... so buy it.... a decent game | |
| scapegoatsqueal (on 20 January 2011) lol Colors crushed this | |
| darkgemini (on 20 January 2011) I don´t say anything else, it´s no success, no failure. it´s ok, one million is/will be ok. and time will show if more is possible... Hmm, another question: What happend to europe? Sales are this week very high, compared to last weeks o.O | |
| xupaxupa (on 20 January 2011) The game has been out for four months, and up until now it has been performing below expectations. Up until now, you can say it has not been a success. | |
| darkgemini (on 20 January 2011) succes depends on something that time will show... It neither sells very good, nor very bad. And it will reach the million easily... OLets talk about success when we have lifetime sales... | |
| xupaxupa (on 19 January 2011) "but not being able to admit that it is a good, different but good game": If by "good game" you mean that it was a game that you liked, well, sure it was a "good game". Not very successful though, and that should not be a surprise. | |
| darkgemini (on 17 January 2011) I don´t understand how people can be so ..wah, I don´t even know the right word ^^ Of course I understand that not everybody has to like it, but not being able to admit that it is a good, different but good game is funny. the VG awards were silly, too.. biggest dissappointment ^^ | |
| spurgeonryan (on 17 January 2011) REally Rob-Ot! What about babysitting Mama? Or even a million other titles that came out in 2010! Even though there are tons of haters of this game here the reviews still say over 8 ...so what do you say to that! | |
| Rob-Ot (on 17 January 2011) One of the worst games this year. Hopefully Rare makes the next one, hated this game. | |
| josewiisantos (on 16 January 2011) These sales make me sad the game was very fun, Samus didn't come off as annoying until I unlocked theater mode and just watched all the cutscenes. Overall this game is a lot of fun and I can see my self replying it many times, controls were very good too i dont get why a lot of reviewers complained about that. | |
| BurningWave (on 16 January 2011) This is an excellent game and I actually do not understand why it does not pass one million last year. | |
| darkgemini (on 15 January 2011) I think it broke already with 700k. I don´t believe that a wii game costs more than 28 Mio... Hmm, well, I think 1 Mio is possible, 5k per week. Last week, it sold more than 8k.... | |
| bigjon (on 15 January 2011) could this "crawl" to 1 million??? 850k seems to be a good ballpark... I think Nintendo might have broken even on this at best | |
| darkgemini (on 14 January 2011) good legs in japan ^^ I wonde rif it could pass europe sales again... | |
| swii26 (on 13 January 2011) Amazon selling this for $19.99US | |
| oni-link (on 12 January 2011) haxxiy is having a breakdown LOL | |
| haxxiy (on 11 January 2011) Waah! The baby metroid died! Waah! I have to obey that guy! Waah! How evil the space pirates are... | |
| Reconnection (on 10 January 2011) It'll sell 1m eventually. | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 09 January 2011) 1m will be fine | |
| JTurner82 (on 08 January 2011) I've read that someone thought that this game was in the same boat as WiiMusic in terms of not being a system seller. That argument is two-fold. Yes, it DIDN'T sell Wii systems, but I'd argue that unlike WiiMusic, which seemed to me like a cheap, lame ripoff, OTHER M is actually quite good. It attempts to shake up the METROID franchise by introducing some new elements to it, and while the mixture is a bit rough at times, it's nonetheless undeserving of the backlash. | |
| gumby_trucker (on 08 January 2011) i hope that once all the hate for this game on the internet is forgotten, it will still be selling.. | |
| ZechsMerquise (on 08 January 2011) I really liked this, and I hope it breaks a million, but I think it'll miss out :( | |
| swii26 (on 07 January 2011) Team Ninja needs to work with Nintendo more!! Great game! Now, how about Ninja Gaiden!?! | |
| oni-link (on 07 January 2011) 710K not bad | |
| Kihniö (on 07 January 2011) Japan likes it more than Prime trilogy..Well 3-D shooters aren`t so popular there | |
| Venox2008 (on 07 January 2011) i liked everything in this game, except a slow begining, everything else was a blast for me :) great game.. BUY IT! | |
| JTurner82 (on 06 January 2011) I really don't understand why this game got so much flak. I don't think it's perfect by any means, but I did enjoy this title unreservedly, and I liked the addition of the cutscenes and voice acting; that was a nice touch. Samus' character really got fleshed out in this tale. | |
| Fededx (on 05 January 2011) 300 k more to go! | |
| dark_gh0st_b0y (on 03 January 2011) come on, it has to sell at least 1m, it's Samus! | |
| spurgeonryan (on 03 January 2011) Lets do a prediction, It is off if the price goes down. I say an average of 5,000 a week starting January 1st. Im going to estimate that it will be at 975,000 give or take 5 thousand on November 24th 2011. Of course I could be way off because im stupid and dont know what the weekly sales are now. oh well. If I lose you can write anything you want on my wall and I wont report it. Good deal? | |
| darkgemini (on 02 January 2011) enjoyed ^^ | |
| darkgemini (on 02 January 2011) nice to see, that many people enjoed and loved this game :) | |
| UnstableGriffin (on 02 January 2011) @Lord_Yggdrassil Mr. Tree there doesn't seem to know what the concept of terrible game even is. | |
| forest-spirit (on 02 January 2011) Oh, and Japan may overtake EMEAA! Good for Japan, really bad for EMEAA. :P | |
| forest-spirit (on 02 January 2011) Ugh, I demand some word from Nintendo about Other M's performence. I want to know if I should celebrate it passing 700k or 500k...:-( | |
| marcianito (on 01 January 2011) love this game, would do a million eventually | |
| Lord_Yggdrassil (on 01 January 2011) terrible game, it's a travesty that this game even sold as much as it did. Sakamoto needs to go back to the drawing board. | |
| Conegamer (on 31 December 2010) Hey, should still be a million-seller in the long run. It just seems as though Europe doesn't like it | |
| axumblade (on 31 December 2010) So this was outsold by Metroid Prime Trilogy this week. o.O I'm sure U.S. will bring this above MP:T overall this week though. I just thought ti was odd. | |
| CrystalDay (on 30 December 2010) Great game. Sales are not nearly high enough. Hopefully it gets a sequel that really shows that Nintendo has listened to the critics this game's got. | |
| Mensrea (on 30 December 2010) It has it's flaws, but it deserves better sales than this. | |
| oni-link (on 27 December 2010) At least it did 250K copies better than the exellent Castlevania:LoS for the PS3 for it's 10wk total. | |
| oni-link (on 27 December 2010) same here...and despite the hate this game managed to sell quite well IMHO. Should MosDef hit 1M sometime next year. | |
| gumby_trucker (on 26 December 2010) i'd definitely buy a sequel that expanded on this... how about having samus fight kraid and crocomire? and maybe digging deeper into the corruption in the galactic federation | |
| oni-link (on 25 December 2010) MosDef should get a sequel just to make use of a very competent engine; knowing Nintendo they might do. | |
| oni-link (on 25 December 2010) MosDef should get a sequel just to make use of a very competent engine; knowing Nintendo they might do. | |
| oni-link (on 25 December 2010) Best Metroid since the original Prime(and I loved the prime). It may not have the eerie atmosphere of the Prime series but it makes it up for an interesting(if not controversial) story line and kick in the pants action sequences. I give level design to the Prime series though. | |
| oni-link (on 25 December 2010) Regardless I see this game selling the very least 1.3M lifetime and 1.5M or more is not out of the quesstion. The fact that Kotaku and Reggie seem to state it is undertracked in the Americas 2M is very possible. Going by VGC 1.3M is certainly possible within a year. | |
| elmerion (on 25 December 2010) So many delusional comments on this wall lol, "slowly crawling to 2 million" seriously guys? seriously?. As a Metroid fan (both the original Metroid, and the incredible Prime saga), i think this game aint worth a buck. The only reason this game was "succesful" (note that Metroid was never that big in Japan anyway) is because of the incredible ads released in Japan appealing to the old school gamer, those ads probably got many people attention (as they got mine) and a lot of sells as a result | |
| Nintendogamer (on 25 December 2010) Wouldn't that be 300K LT end of november in america alone and VGChartz has it at 450,000 in america's as of last week. | |
| Nintendogamer (on 25 December 2010) Wouldn't that be 300K LT end of november in america alone and VGChartz has it at 450,000 | |
| oni-link (on 25 December 2010) On track for 1.3M to 1.5M lifetime; hoping it passes Corruption before it's 1 year anniversary. Best selling console Metroid in Japan period. | |
| gumby_trucker (on 25 December 2010) according to NPD this needs to be adjusted down by at least 100k.... just awful :( | |
| Seece (on 25 December 2010) NPD have this at 300k lifetime .. hmm | |
| bigjon (on 24 December 2010) its getting an OK boost. Sold 30k last week. This game should be crawling to 2 million... not 1 million though. | |
| oni-link (on 24 December 2010) regardless it's on track to hit 700K or more by Jan11' and 1.0M by Aug11' with or without a pricecut (the latter would help). European Wii sales is abysmal due to the rampant piracy in that region for Wii titles. I didn't really get why Nintendo would go regular DVD disc without being more proactive about protecting it's piracy issue. Lesson learned for them I guess? | |
| gumby_trucker (on 24 December 2010) turns out europe is actually where this game is really not selling in comparison to corruption... | |
| spurgeonryan (on 24 December 2010) Hmm after looking at all the posts, I think Nintendo should reduce the price soon. 29.99 may be a good idea. although they havent done it with Zelda TP which never charts hardly so why would they do that with this? | |
| spurgeonryan (on 24 December 2010) well if it was at 650 last week then it should be getting bout 20 thousand a week. I predict 720,000 by January 1st. | |
| spurgeonryan (on 24 December 2010) No matter what people think of this I am still surprised christmas didnt give this a boost? What are the sales each week! | |
| spurgeonryan (on 23 December 2010) Well supposedly Japan tells us what the trends are going to be, so if they like this then maybe it is actually good? Or maybe they just heard it was different and they didnt like the old versions so they went out and tried it out? Still hopefully it can be passed a million by summer. Dont know why it just sounded like a nice date. | |
| oni-link (on 23 December 2010) turning out to be the best selling console Metroid in Japan since the original. 650K and counting can't wait to see how the americas boost it this week. | |
| oni-link (on 23 December 2010) @darkgemni a sequel would be profitable since the engine is already made. A shame to put it to waste; also MosDef this game will surpass 1M lifetime. It'll hit 1.5M or enough to surpass Echoes. | |
| darkgemini (on 23 December 2010) I think the other M idea wasn´t bad. Honestly, most of what people were disappointed can be corrected, and a sequel could be a very, very good metroid game.... | |
| oni-link (on 23 December 2010) oh btw calling a game with decent sales a bomb can be seen as trolling. Be careful we wouldn't want the mods to get involved. Trust me I know. | |
| oni-link (on 23 December 2010) I actually loved it and it seems 640K people was convinced to play it too. This was a sales dissapointment but it's far from being a bomb. | |
| oni-link (on 23 December 2010) I actually loved it and it seems 640K people was convinced to play it too. This was a sales dissapointment but it's far from being a bomb. | |
| AOK Games (on 22 December 2010) @ oni-link I don't know what else needs to be said: Reggie already confirmed that Other M bombed compared to what they were hoping for. Looking back, Other M went from being the biggest surprise of e3 2009 to one of the most anticipated games of 2010. Now, it's the lowest rated game in the series with very little that actually resembles what made the franchise popular in the first place. It's a bomb, and I hope we don't get a sequel, at least not one like Other M. This was such a massive disappointment. | |
| oni-link (on 21 December 2010) that source has no legit bearing sorry it's just a post by some guy I trust Reggie and Kotaku more ...sorry 640k still stands in VGC lol | |
| oni-link (on 21 December 2010) In the Americas...kappowwww still great sales and WILL get a sequel | |
| Barozi (on 21 December 2010) Reggie said "close to HALF a million" of course. My fault. | |
| Barozi (on 21 December 2010) awful legs and still overtracked in the US. BTW Reggies said: "close to a million" shipped of course. Definitely not undertracked, if he was talking about WW clearly overtracked and NPD agrees http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=23880663&postcount=1300 . Now stop spamming. | |
| oni-link (on 21 December 2010) also it did this by selling at almost full price everywhere else at the moment!!! lol | |
| oni-link (on 21 December 2010) ~640K in 15 weeks is not a flop. It's around what Metroid games usually sell on consoles. It should sell over 1M lifetime and I hope team ninja gets a sequel!!! | |
| elmerion (on 20 December 2010) Glad this game floped, hoefully Retro gets to do the next Metroid game | |
| oni-link (on 18 December 2010) look at dem legs 24K increase from week 14 to 15, 18K from week 13 to 14, and 14K incease from week 12 to 13. Can't wait till it outperforms MP:Echoes. A sequel for sure. | |
| oni-link (on 17 December 2010) @ Darkgemini yeah I'm glad this game is selling well despite it being still $50 in big retailers like TRU, BestBuy, Target, Walmart, and GameStop!!! | |
| darkgemini (on 17 December 2010) well it sells 3.000 units a week in japan, it will sell there better than any prime game. After prime the japan people have to frind back to metroid. | |
| darkgemini (on 17 December 2010) In europe (Germany) it still sells at full prize, so ;) | |
| Juma009 (on 17 December 2010) How many copies must be sold to break even? 250k or something like that right? | |
| Voltaire (on 17 December 2010) Im disappointed that .63million people were duped into buying this garbage. But hopefully a lesson is learned. I also find it hilarious that Nin so clearly tried for the JPN audience, and the game failed to sell there as well. | |
| whawhawha (on 17 December 2010) well...why he is puzzled to its lack of success to put in a nicer way. | |
| whawhawha (on 17 December 2010) The further a game gets away from launch the less the numbers mean for any company involved. A game selling for $20 does not make alot of money. If you like just seeing the numbers, well I guess you can still get that. You can buy that terrible monster truck game that has sold over a million for $5, but it won't help nintendo none. This is why Reggie is calling it a failure. | |
| oni-link (on 14 December 2010) @venox accoring to Kotaku sales are somewhat undertracked (Reggie's quote) in the Americas. Anyways going by VGC #'s alone this should reach 1.0M bythis Aug 11' | |
| Venox2008 (on 14 December 2010) really great game, I really hope and will be hopin' for bigger sales.. | |
| spurgeonryan (on 14 December 2010) Dont worry people this same argument can be seen at EW.com on teh dexter season finale thread, and it will be on Burn notice finale as well. Some people love something and others hate it. I still hope this sells at least a million so they will make the next one. But not as much as the others so they know they need a bunch of changes. | |
| darkgemini (on 12 December 2010) @ aok: well , it is just your opinion, JUST ;) We have another ^^ | |
| AOK Games (on 11 December 2010) @ Fededx. It doesn't deserve a million. It's about as far away from Metroid as you can get. Hell, the Primes were more Metroid than Other M, and those were FPSes while Other M was specifically meant to be a throwback to the original games! Other M doesn't deliver on any level, not as a story game, not as an action game, and, again, not even as a Metroid game. | |
| Fededx (on 10 December 2010) It's a great game, I really enjoyed it. Get out haters, the game deserves much more than a million. | |
| whawhawha (on 10 December 2010) ...and I say some and most, because the quality is all over the place from area to area. it made no sense. | |
| whawhawha (on 10 December 2010) ok, let me correct what I said, because some of the movie scenes are the best on the wii. The visuals are wildly inconsistant. Some of the graphics are the worst on the wii and unfortunately most of the overhead game play looks awful. blocky and blurry. The game overall is week. Bad controls, bad characters, bad playable graphics, and some real bad gameplay decisions throughout. | |
| darkgemini (on 09 December 2010) @ AOK: YOu said it yourself: FUSION! Pulling out the game saying she had no character? Lol. She was even more "weak" there. And it doesn´t metter that it was later in timelime, what a logic. It was developed earlier, thats the point  And even in the prime games she wasn´t that bad ass, you maybe wish to see in her.... | |
| spurgeonryan (on 09 December 2010) and its not going up with christmas either! yikes! Since it is supposedly worse than the other 3 I hope it doesnt do as well, but still a million would be nice to keep nintendo interested. | |
| AOK Games (on 08 December 2010) @darkgemini The graphics are a huge step down from the Prime games. Prime had organic, detailed environments, but Other M was just corridor after corridor after huge, empty room. And to make this perfectly clear, Samus never had any character; whatever you believed her to be was simply you projecting your thoughts onto the character. And before you pull out Fusion to defend your point, that was later in the Metroid timeline; nothing excuses this poor portrayal of a character. | |
| darkgemini (on 08 December 2010) rofl, the visuals are one of the best on wii, and samus chaarcter didn´t change to earlier games, if you followed them. This are weak arguments. | |
| whawhawha (on 07 December 2010) I just sold this off after half way through. This is not a good game. I'm only glad I didn't pay full price for it. The controls are awful. samus is made to be really weak character, and the visuals compared to prime are real bad. To prove I am not just a hater, kong country(which I am playing now) is fantastic with great visuals. I can only hope that metroid fans don't get suckered in to the stuff you peopel are saying here. | |
| Darren1986 (on 07 December 2010) I feel that the game has a lot of potential and with prices of the game falling lately, it should be enough to encourage people to buy the game. Good luck to it! | |
| marcianito (on 04 December 2010) one of the best games on wii, like it better than metroid prime series | |
| Fededx (on 03 December 2010) 600 k, hope it rgets a boost in sales this holidays, and finally breaks the 1 m mark! | |
| TWRoO (on 01 December 2010) Man the hard mode on this game is brutal.... the later bosses have lots of moves that are 1 hit kills. | |
| Wildvine53 (on 01 December 2010) Just finished this game, and I loved ever minute of it! | |
| Juma009 (on 29 November 2010) This game is going to be a cult classic unfortanely a lot people were thrown off by mixed reviews, man this game is great. | |
| oni-link (on 29 November 2010) holding steady above 10K a week...this should sell 1.0M by 08/11 despite being undertracked in the americas! | |
| oni-link (on 29 November 2010) sorry borzoi this game is undertracked according to the recent interview with reggie on kotaku. | |
| UnstableGriffin (on 29 November 2010) @Voltaire Metroid series should get restraining order against the idiotic fans. Like yourself, for example | |
| Pavolink (on 28 November 2010) 10k more than MPTrilogy!! Go Samus!! | |
| Voltaire (on 27 November 2010) The Metroid series should get a restraining order against Sakamoto | |
| Darkeagle (on 26 November 2010) actually i liked this game better than the prime series.. i´ve never been the biggest metroid fan though. great game, it deserves way better sales. | |
| Barozi (on 24 November 2010) @oni-link it's ~100k overtracked in the Americas and not undertracked loool | |
| oni-link (on 24 November 2010) decent sales and with this being undertracked in the americas; it probably hit the 600K mark a few weeks ago. Not a blockbuster that Nintendo had hoped for but not a disaster also. Should hit 1.0M by 08/11 if sales trend continue and VGC corrects the undetrack in the americas! | |
| Arfen (on 23 November 2010) this game takes a different direction from Prime series, and no everybody likes it.. It's a great game, not as good as primes but a very good game with a huge history/drama beside it. Taking a new derection in a very popular franchise I think this game is a good first step.. will see the Samu's next | |
| TruckOSaurus (on 22 November 2010) Finished it this weekend, although not as good as the Prime games it's still a great game! | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 21 November 2010) A correction for my other post concerning Kotaku (I don't know how I butcherd it so badly back there): I meant to say they have a bad habbit of putting their own POV's on things to the point of people being misinformed (at times). | |
| chaos20xx (on 20 November 2010) without America sales this would be biggest bomb ever | |
| robzo100 (on 20 November 2010) this game was awful. culmination of so many things I hate in modern gaming today. | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 19 November 2010) *words or ideas | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 19 November 2010) I didn't see any direct quote from Reggie about it being US sales. Kotaku could've easily stated "US" themselves. I'm not saying they did, but until we hear a direct quote, I'm not trusting Kotaku. They have a bad habbit of putting words of ideas in peoples minds by adding their POVs often =/ Also, even if we get a direct quote, without official numbers, we don't know how loosely or unloosely Reggie could've used "getting close" to half a million. One thing is for certain - Nintendo is very disappointed by its performance. | |
| oni-link (on 17 November 2010) Actually according to Reggie it's undertracked LOL so maybe it hit the 600K mark I was hoping for this game by Christmas!! | |
| darkgemini (on 17 November 2010) It doesn´t sell good, but it doesn´t awll qwll. Europe is the problem... It´s sad that it doesn´t get a signifficant christmas boost... | |
| oni-link (on 14 November 2010) my prediction still stands 600K-700K by 01/11, 800K by 08/11 and 1.2M lifetime. VGC numbers ;P | |
| oni-link (on 14 November 2010) according to reggie this has sold close to selling 500K in the Americas alone (kotaku article) so if anything it is undertracked!!! | |
| oni-link (on 14 November 2010) 560K with 7 weeks till the end of the holiday season. Too bad for all the haters out there...it should hit 600K easily and maybe 700K? @ roar FYI NPD stopped releasing numbers and please don't direct me to the weak sauce that is a forum thread LOL that's just plain lame!!! | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 13 November 2010) @Conegamer: NPD data for september suggests otherwise. | |
| Conegamer (on 12 November 2010) It's not overtracked | |
| Venox2008 (on 12 November 2010) it IS a GREAT game.. and I'm fan of metroid too! :) | |
| J.U.N.O (on 12 November 2010) How can people say this is a good game? I'm a big metroid fan and although I liked that they added a story to the game, the gameplay is just awfull and frustrating. And some decisions they made takes away a lot form what Metroid is. | |
| Roar_Of_War (on 12 November 2010) No one realizes this game is actually over-tracked. | |
| oni-link (on 10 November 2010) If it hits 600K to 700K this Christmas, it should be okay and could end up selling 1M in it's lifetime (despite the haters). Just look at WL:shake it and PunchOut!!! | |
| Oria (on 08 November 2010) Such a pain to play. Just doesn't feel like a Metroid. After the first week people got to play it and suddenly stopped buying the game. Can't blame them. At least I can still play SM and MPT. Hell, even Pinball feels more like a Metroid... | |
| darkgemini (on 08 November 2010) I think so, too. reviews were mostly positive... I love this game, SM, Corruption an OM are my favorite Metroid games... Great atmosphere.... | |
| Monteblanco (on 08 November 2010) Somewhat weak sales for a Metroid title. It is a great game that received a lot of undeserved bad mouth. | |
| Squeakthedragon (on 08 November 2010) Reviews were generally positive. Crazy wailing of hardcore fanboys may have killed its word of mouth however. | |
| Juma009 (on 05 November 2010) Hmmm, reviews really killed this game. I like this game. | |
| Conegamer (on 05 November 2010) Should be close to 1mil (if not oveer!) by the end of the fiscal year!! | |
| Conegamer (on 05 November 2010) Should be close to 1mil (if not oveer!) by the end of the fiscal year!! | |
| oni-link (on 04 November 2010) well dand my prediction is at least 600K by Christmas, 700K by aug11', and 1.0M lifetime. | |
| Dand (on 04 November 2010) @oni-link, no it will hit 600k by the end of november. | |
| oni-link (on 04 November 2010) should hit 600K by the end of christmas 10' easily!!! | |
| Voltaire (on 02 November 2010) This game was the biggest disappointment since No More Heroes 2. | |
| Fededx (on 30 October 2010) Awesome game, but it's selling bad... Sad... | |
| chaos20xx (on 30 October 2010) i liked this one, not as good as retro's work with the series, but also a very good game hope it sells 1 Million | |
| spurgeonryan (on 29 October 2010) Well hopefully christmas will help it gain some ground | |
| Tayne (on 28 October 2010) Good game, room for improvement. I would love to see a sequel | |
| Fededx (on 27 October 2010) Can't understand why Metroid games do not sell anymore :S Hope it doesn't mean the saga has to rest for an entire gen again, like Star Fox :( | |
| oni-link (on 26 October 2010) @haxxiy 510K in less than 2 months is a flop? The last two console Metroid "ONLY" sold 1.3M on average during their lifespan. Can't judge this game too early. If it can sell 600K by the end of Dec. it has a decent chance of getting 1+M during it's lifetime. Hardly a flop by any publishers standards. | |
| haxxiy (on 25 October 2010) Decent sales? More likely a total flop. Metroid doesn't deserve this sales. This game shouldn't even be called a Metroid. | |
| Venox2008 (on 25 October 2010) gr8 game!!! | |
| oni-link (on 25 October 2010) decent sales within what I expected for this game given the critics reception. It should easily sell 600-700K by the end of Christmas 10' and 700K-800K within a year!!! | |
| twistedcellz (on 13 May 2010) Cant wait to play a real metroid game again.Retro did a good job but metroid was never meant to be played first person, just like zelda or mario wouldnt be. | |
| MasterZack (on 23 April 2010) Till August 31st!! man :( | |
| Salnax (on 18 March 2010) Cautiously Optimistic. Wondering how the character of this game will compare to the original and Fusion 2D and Prime games. | |
| Ninpanda (on 16 March 2010) Yes, I'm a huge Metroid fan, but I refuse to join the hype before at least a SINGLE proper gameplay video. The trailer was too intense for my old nerves. When I see a single gameplay clip that lasts over 20 seconds, I'll make my decision. (Everything so far sounds great, though...) | |
| freddy1403 (on 05 March 2010) I' love this game, it' s the best game of the year | |
| novasonic (on 03 March 2010) Preordered! | |
| cromeros (on 29 January 2010) Sweet... Nostalgic... 2010... the year of the Hype Games on Wii...!! | |
| oliist (on 29 January 2010) Official site http://metroid.jp/ | |
| ECC (on 26 January 2010) GAME OF THE YEAR or Galaxy 2 or Zelda lol | |
| novasonic (on 11 January 2010) This is coming out in less than a year, and all we've seen is a mid development trailer with a few cutscenes slapped on it. Nintendo needs to be promoting the hell out of this or it's going to slip under the radar like so many other good Wii games. | |
| Siko1989 (on 11 January 2010) well i finally get to see samus actually talk, i want to feel like im watching a movie.. and this is what this game looks like lol | |
| ClaudeLv250 (on 10 January 2010) You're killing me, Nintendo. I need more Other M news. | |
| VivaLaWiida (on 08 January 2010) Didn't like Metroid Prime, but the Metroid series could make me Samus like again. | |
| Red4ADevil (on 07 January 2010) edit* This is going to rock 2010 socks off!. | |
| c0rd (on 08 December 2009) Prime was awesome, but I got a little tired of it after the first. I haven't played 2 and I've yet to finish 3 (got about halfway). A change in the gameplay style is welcome. | |
| inu_1607 (on 24 November 2009) Looks amzing,since brawl i had not been so excited for a game | |
| LokeSTL (on 11 November 2009) @haxxiy I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think you'll find that most of us Metroid fans prefer the 3rd person Metroids to the 1st person Primes. It'll be nice to get back to the core Metroid experience. We'll just have to see if Team Ninja can pull this off. | |
| haxxiy (on 01 November 2009) Prime was the best thing it could have happened to Metroid, so why change it? And Team Ninja, WTF? Still I'm buying this game due to storyline alone, since I do love metroid. | |
| marcoberry3 (on 19 October 2009) This looks to be really amazing. I cannot wait. | |
| SaviorX (on 18 October 2009) If they put the abbreviation M.O.M into the commercials, they can trick half of the casual userbase into buying it! | |
| Voltaire (on 11 October 2009) The girl with short hair is a younger Samus. | |
| darkgemini (on 02 October 2009) this girl with short hair....is this samus? hope not......^^ | |
| TGM (on 01 October 2009) Any and all new info on Metroid:Other M can be found here.... http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=236074 | |
| novasonic (on 01 October 2009) I wonder who that research girl in the trailer is.. It seems like such an emotional part in the story. I know they said shes not a Samus clone, but maybe another survivor of her home world?.. perhaps a.. sister? | |
| SnowFlow (on 25 September 2009) The Prime games were good but I just got sick of looking for the most obscure things that would lead me to the next path, that would then lead me to more backtracking and more of facing the exact same enemies in the backtracked areas for more times than I could even count. Prime was a great series, but it just wasn't my thing. I do enjoy Zelda games by the way too. | |
| 68soul (on 25 September 2009) @SnowFlow I'm replaying the whole trilogy right now, and i'm even more impressed than ever before: the balance between exploration/puzzles and action/fights is nearly perfect... with the GC controller, some fights were too difficult for me, but with the wiimote... it's now so intuitive and fluid: i'm having a blast! Of course, if you're not into the "Zelda's dungeons in space" thing, i can understand... but "bored" with Prime? Well, to each his own, i guess... | |
| Nintendogamer (on 19 September 2009) @Playstationgamer Motherbrain was the boss that first appeared in Metroid ( The first metroid game ) and I advise you to play the prime series. Furthermore you should download Super metroid and I hope you enjoy them. | |
| Buzzi (on 19 September 2009) not to forget that if you put the "M" before "other" you have "Mother"... | |
| PlaystaionGamer (on 18 September 2009) @Voltaire ah i see, still confussed a little but, guess it all makes sense if your a fan il try an play this some how lol | |
| Voltaire (on 17 September 2009) I think the Prime series had a bit too much combat in it. Still cant wait for this. @playstationgamer Some people have speculated that 'Other M' was short for the 'other Metroid...' quote at the end of the original game. Others think that the acronym, M:OM, is short for Mother, as in Mother Brain. | |
| PlaystaionGamer (on 17 September 2009) this will sell really well, never played a Metroid game but they seem good! can someone explain the name to me? 'other m'? is it something in the story fans understand lol just an od name is all lol | |
| SnowFlow (on 17 September 2009) I hope this game is more action oriented than the Prime series, Prime bored the living heck out of me.. not trying to tick anyone off but this is really how I feel. | |
| 16-bit gamer (on 14 September 2009) i hope this one has scanning. I'm a scanoholic | |
| Vertigo-X (on 13 September 2009) yuexx - learn to type. | |
| sc94597 (on 13 September 2009) @Yuexxx Lol. I like how you are comparing a series that hasn't had one game in it that wasn't acclaimed by a good amount of people to a new IP that was over hyped. | |
| yuexxx (on 12 September 2009) This game will be the new HAZE we havent seen nothing for think that it´s third person 3d | |
| sc94597 (on 12 September 2009) @TheConduit Even Corruption? It was the best of the prime series, and third best of the series overall imo. | |
| test (on 12 September 2009) | |
| darkgemini (on 11 September 2009) I like the silent Hero thing :) maybe it was somebody elese talking :P Can't wait to see the story, to play the game :) | |
| Vertigo-X (on 10 September 2009) Hmm... I am giddy to think about the story this game will have, now. :D | |
| TheConduit (on 10 September 2009) I just cant see this game being bad for some reason Metroid games (even corruption) were fantastic and team ninja has never made a bad game. And Samus talks TALKS Hey some people like the silent hero thing "I DONT" | |
| theARTIST0017 (on 22 July 2009) FINNALY. The best part is, I've always wanted a third person 3D Metroid game even before this was announced. And the Big-N and Tecmo came through! | |
| sc94597 (on 22 July 2009) Hopefully my new Best Game Ever. Oh and # TheConduit You got it a year before release? | |
| Majin-Tenshinhan (on 27 June 2009) I'm very, very skeptical about this, honestly. But then again, Metroid games have never let me down, and we all know Sakamoto is directing this one as well, so I'm sure it'll end up superb. | |
| TheConduit (on 22 June 2009) I just picked this up and it is sweet | |
| DOLBYdigital (on 16 June 2009) 2D aspects of Super Metroid mixed with the 3D aspects of Metroid Prime = an amazing game that I cannot wait to play :) | |
| ash3336 (on 13 June 2009) This is just the trailer. It will be improved as more gameplay trailers are revealed. I think we will see more in action at TGS. | |
| Son1x (on 06 June 2009) I SO want this! | |
| Jowgen (on 06 June 2009) I can't wait for this game to come out!!! I'm definitely getting it on release day, whenever that is. | |
| ClaudeLv250 (on 03 June 2009) HELL to the YES! Most wanted game! | |
| Valkyria00 (on 02 June 2009) The Metroid of my dreams. My tagline for this game. | |
| Snesboy (on 02 June 2009) Do want. | |
| SJGohan3972 (on 02 June 2009) Amazing | |
| oliist (on 02 June 2009) *faints* :-D |
