Outpost 2 is a RTS, focused mostly on base management instead of combat.

The game features the struggle between two factions to leave New Earth, a planet suffering from abuse of these factions which will be engulfed by The Blight. The player must construct his colony, guiding its colonists in order to build the spaceship that will take them out of the planet.

The colony management revolves around keeping the morale of the colonists high enough while expanding the colony. At the same time, the enemy faction has the same objective. In his way to expand the colony, the player will research new technologies which allow better buildings and units and an overall improved life in the colonies.

The players will compete for resources and each one will try to bring the other player down. The Blight which is affecting the planet is responsible for many earthquakes and vulcano eruptions which may cause destruction in the player's colony.

The game features a campaign mode, a Colony mode which is basically a "freeplay" mode and multiplayer, local and online.
