Puzzle Bobble is a popular puzzle game developed by taito based on characters from the 1986 game bubble bobble.

The objective of the game is to clear a field of textured bubbles by shooting other textured bubbles into the playing area. When a bubble is fired into the playing area and creates a chain of three or more bubble the same texture, then that chain dissapears. Every few shots a layer of bubbles is added to the top of the palying field causeing the level of bubbles to move to the bottom of the screen. When the bubbles reach the bottom of the screen the player dies and the level has to be repeated.

The game features a two player mode where players comete in identical fields to get the highest point count.
