No way this has sold more in NA than everywhere else combined...
ishiki (on 28 January 2012)
I've gotta say, I played it initially a year and a half ago. And was dissapointed, I thought the characters acted different than in SC1. The BNET2.0, was annoying. After time, I enjoyed the story a lot more. And the game is effing polished I love it. 2vs2 ranking games with my brother is great great fun.
snitch55 (on 25 January 2012)
Pezus, and that's only for 2011 i think. A year after it's release.
snitch55 (on 25 January 2012)
DrozzRith where did you get this data?
PC games are so untertracked here. And i mean physical copis not to mention Online stores.
This probaby has sold well over 6 mln copies.
DrozzRith (on 23 January 2012)
nilli, I would agree with you for the first time in my life IIIIIIFFFF, Blizzard hadn't stated that they had sold over 2 million copies of the game on their online store, and that they had sold over 4 million copies in all of Asia (wich vgchartz doesn't track) and that there are at the very least, 2 million people paying the fee to play online, wich is almost the same price as the game itself. So if you put all those facts together and translate them into dollars, this game sold easily 13 million copies.
pezus (on 20 January 2012)
Over 500k (got an award for selling over 500k so it could be a lot higher than 500k) in Germany alone and yet only 987k in all of Europe?
Iveyboi (on 25 November 2011)
These sales are not right...massively undertracked. It is a sad relaity though
nilli (on 04 November 2011)
You can sell 5 million units of games on pc when you develop it for 10 years. Have it be the successor for the most successfull RTS game of all time. Also the first game has to be a national sport in some country. Scrap Lan support to prevent piracy and focus extremely heavily on the multiplayer aspect of the game. Have your own battlenet system to prevent the piracy and advertice this game like no tomorrow. Then you have the chance to sell millions on pc. You think that it is really worth it. IDIOTS! 5 million for a game this caliber is SHIT!
rexar (on 02 November 2011)
I think nilli god mad becouse he is pc exclusive game which sold good, what are you say about this you console retard?
rexar (on 02 November 2011)
nilli - omg that retard also troll here.
Jexy (on 02 November 2011)
Don't forget it has at least 4-5 million extra copies sold in South Korea alone. VG Chartz doesn't track everywhere.
yahoocom1984 (on 05 October 2011)
Also at least 2 million sales from digital version. The total sales of Starcraft 2 are over 5 million copies
Mordred11 (on 04 October 2011)
great sales so far!
zingerman (on 01 October 2011)
@nilli don't forget it's a niche genre, not your casual console crap like gears, cod and so on, and since it's considered a dying genre this many sales unbelieveable.
nilli (on 27 September 2011)
Oh my god so pc game can make good sales numbers. When you drop the lan support. Develop the game for 10 years. Make the game heavily multiplayer focused so that it is basically impossible to pirate. When you have first game that people are still playing so you got all the hype and when you advertise this game like no tomorrow. LOL!
Smeags (on 30 August 2011)
Now this is a great game! Totally had a blast with the single player, now on to get my butt kicked in multiplayer. :P
spurgeonryan (on 22 May 2011)
Yeah I didn't even know VGchartz tracked PC or online games like farmville. So you people are right.
Chibi.V.29 (on 05 May 2011)
Urg ffs people its not under tracked! VGC cant track downloads so this is just how many copies have been sold IN STORES that's not including battle.net etc
FaRmLaNd (on 29 April 2011)
Its not bull. They can't track digital downloads. Get over it.
starchaser (on 25 April 2011)
Agree with the previous comments. The game has already sold 4.5 mil according to the Activision Blizzard's declarations, VGChartz PC game tracking is complete bull.
FaRmLaNd (on 01 April 2011)
This'll just keep edging up and up as the years go by like the first. Impressive number given the downloads aren't included.
VXIII (on 08 March 2011)
VG doesn't include downloaded versions unlike the official data
yahoocom1984 (on 13 February 2011)
VGCHARTZ PC games tracking is bullshit
yahoocom1984 (on 13 February 2011)
This game sold over 4.5 million on PC (Offical data)
hudsoniscool (on 03 February 2011)
probably more than 1 million downloaded versions
yahoocom1984 (on 06 January 2011)
pirating this game is useless. Pirated version can't access BN
Gearbox (on 31 December 2010)
i feel bad knowing that 2.5 -3 mil were pirated in america and europe.
Kihniö (on 25 December 2010)
Jim Raynor..Welcome back
zgamer5 (on 25 December 2010)
i just love it!
markimsoad (on 26 November 2010)
amazing
yahoocom1984 (on 15 November 2010)
This game sold around 4 million copies now if we consider the digital sales too
yahoocom1984 (on 12 November 2010)
This game surely has strong legs, like most big PC games
Gnizmo (on 30 October 2010)
Why does it say the game is available on the PS2?
yahoocom1984 (on 29 October 2010)
Digital sales is huge for PC games.. 51% of toal PCgames slaes in North America
FaRmLaNd (on 29 October 2010)
Exactly. BLizzard said it sold 3 million copies in the first month. Whilst their retail number may have been shipped it still implies that the battle.net sales are impressive!
neon007 (on 23 October 2010)
When I look at this and think.. geeh only 2.38 milion and then I remember that it doesn't include digital sales :P
FaRmLaNd (on 28 February 2010)
Day 1 purchase.

I've never been more hyped for a game!
--OkeyDokey-- (on 25 November 2009)
"And fingers crossed for a 2008 release!"

lol. This game is taking forever.
cheese_man (on 23 March 2009)
Why is this in the top games? This game isn't coming out for months and months! Go away starcraft, I might love you but you are taking up room.
NicholasCage (on 22 March 2009)
I'm guessing Korea will count as Others right?

We can definetly see a HUGE number for others since Starcraft is an actual sport there like Baseball for NA and futbol for EU
Vertigo-X (on 22 March 2009)
M0re, plz.
KroNfs (on 07 January 2009)
We all sc/wc3 maniacs have this before summer! It is definetely a release buy.
DreadRaptor85 (on 12 December 2008)
I must have this game! But this is the Terran campaign. I like Zerg the most.
StarcraftManiac (on 09 April 2008)
I'm so buying this when this comes out! Collector's edition here i come!!!

And fingers crossed for a 2008 release!
