Forums - Gaming Discussion - HD is to Wii as PC is to HD

So I coudn't help but notice some things on this oard which everyone keeps repeating, even me, whether it's true or not. So after looking over them I couldn't help but notice a pattern going relating all the platforms so here I will presents the biggest arguments someone has against their rival platforms.

HD vs. Wii

Arguments against Wii:

- Subpar graphics

- Lack of good controls

- Lack of good core games

- Horrible online

- Subpar small games releases

- Shovelware and games which barely iterate and bring anythign new to the scene, dumbed down games

Arguments against HD:

- Lack playing locally on many games (anti-social)

- Too costly

- Too complex to play because of installs, updates, patches, hardware failures (lack of plug and play)

PC vs HD

Arguments against HD:

- Subpar graphics

- Lack of good controls

- Lack of good games

- Horrendous online (you even have to pay for it on some systems)

- Subpar small games releases

- Games which barely iterate and bring anything new to gaming, dumbed down games

- Lack of online communities

- DLC should be free

Arguments vs PC:

- Lack playing locally on many games (anti-social)

- Too costly

- Too complex to play because of installs, updates, patches, hardware failures

Comments, corrections, additions and anything else is welcome.

I get your point but...

My PC graphics run on an integrated SiS Mirage 2 (eeeeeeeewwww!!!) chip on the motherboard.

Does this support your reasoning, with respect to graphics? O_O

Does the PC not have payed DLC, and pay for play online as well(Or soon to be *looks at Battle.net)?

Edit: and what do you mean no hardcore games?

There is paid DLC, except that few people bother because games have online communities which provide endless content for the games for free. Also Battle.net is not paid, they haven't even mentoined it and they retracted their one single statement that mentioned it.

@Carl

I didn't say any of those were true. Just what people throw around.

Well yeah, it's been said before that the PS360 are nothing more than "casualized" PCs.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

Horrendous online for HD, but only horrible for Wii??

Well the differece between online on the PC and HD is far bigger than HD and Wii.

Missing a big argument against PC.

no two PC are the same and you never know when you purchase a game if it will run on your PC....

And I have to laugh at the lack of good core games on HD or lack of online community..( Xbox live says hello).

if PC has such kick ass online community, how do I interact with my friends playing L4D2 while I am playing Wow ? Answer you do not...

And what exactly is the issue with patches/installs and co on HD vs Wii ? They are exactly the same in that regard.......You have nothing to do at all concerning patches on HD consoles, if one is available  the game/console will grab it for you, you have no work to do at all...( unlike having to get the latest Nvidia driver because the last pc game you just purchase does not work well on your rig..)

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I'd only question the line about the Wii lacking good controls. If you'd like to take a sample base, compare RE4 for the Wii compared to ANY other Resident Evil game to have come out, ever. The RE Wii controls blow the competition out of the water. After all, if the Wii control system was bad, Natal and PS Wand wouldn't have been made.
