According to gamefront.de retailer pre-orders for the next installment of the popular Mario Party franchise have exceeded 500k in Japan. It seems as Nintendo is holding back some units again, for Mario Party 8 release.

 

 

...looks like the battle between Hot Shots Golf and Mario Party 8 is gonna be a tough one.

As a comparism, the retail pre-orders for Hot Shots Golf, which is gonna be released in the same week, are now at 300k.

Wow, thats a bit crazy especially for a game like Mario Party. Last we heard TheSource had HSG at 65k preorders.

Wonder how the big 3 is going to do, if Mario Party has this much hype.

The 65k is my estimate for customer preorders though...not retailer preorders.

 Oh ok that makes more sense. Still strange to see Mario Party preorders exceed HSG by 200K.

Ok, whoever seriously expects HSG to outsell Mario Party is delusional.

Doesn't mean I don't expect both to sell well.

I didn't think Mario Party was that big...and I thought HSG was the next biggest PS3 game....

 Yeah exactly. By the way everyone was talking, it seemed like HSG was the PS3's savior in Japan, and truly it is a huge francise. And this Mario Party is pretty horrible, IMO.
