The South Park creators are teaming up with THQ and Obsidian Entertainment to create an RPG based on the hugely popular Comedy Central series, South Park. The Fallout: New Vegas team is heading the development of the game and is expected to be released in the second half of 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

The game will be simply titled South Park: The Game. The player will take on the role as the new kid in South Park, who has to "make friends and defend the town from a wide range of threats."

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of the series will be handling the script and some of the dialogue and will be overseeing the development of the game. The two are the directors, executive producers, writers, and voice actors for the series.

"Our goal is simple: to put creative talent first," said Danny Bilson, Core Games EVP at publisher THQ. "Matt and Trey are arguably two of the most important comedic talents of their generation. Bringing their vision of South Park to the interactive space is a dream-come-true."

South Park on the N64 was a pretty damn fun game so I'm hoping the best for this one too.

I doubt its going to be as good as fallout new vegas though.... But if it is that would be great!

Very cool! Can't wait. I would have prefered The Simpsons but South Park will do especially if Trey and Matt are writing the script!

South Park is a Comedy Central series not a Cartoon Network series...
