Rumor: Kevin Butler to Leave Sony

Well, apparently Sony's VP of... everything concievable is calling it quits. Or is he? Via twitter, Kevin Butler sent out this message...

A man can only be made VP so many times, KB’s off to be PRESIDENT of my uncle’s new upstart company

And then added on later...

Thanks for all the well-wishes. Yes, as president of a flooring company I’ll be hiring but please no job apps yet. Commercials? We’ll see…

For those of you unaware, Kevin Butler has been Sony's fictional representative (played by actor Jerry Lambert) for a good couple of years now. This campaign was so successful that he actually got to step out at E3 2010 and address the crowd. Whether this is a new stunt, a joke, the start of a new project or if the character is being laid to rest still remains to be directly confirmed by Sony itself, but stay tuned to gamrFeed for all the updates.

This is just a joke. Leaving Playstation to make a flooring company. How not awesome is that? He is the best spokesman for a game company yet. Something needed to get people interested in press conferences and well gaming in general. Same with the PSP kid.

People, it's really simple. While Sony was 2nd in HD competition he was VP, now that Sony will announce total domination with price cut he will become President.

It was a great ad franchise, but all things must end. And that is especially necessary for advertising franchises. I just hope they replace it with something more effective.
