Study: Duke Nukem Forever Most Disappointing Game of 2011 (So Far)

It may come as no surprise to most, but Duke Nukem Forever has been voted the "most disappointing video game release" of the last 12 months in a new study conducted by gaming marketplace and research company Playr2.

About 1,671 people participated in the study, which asked the question, "Which video game releases of the past 12 months were you disappointed by (if any)?" They were given multiple games to choose from, and 41 percent agreed that the Duke's latest outing was a flop. 

"With so many titles released every year, we wanted to look into which had been a hit with gaming fans and which had failed to impress," explained Simon Kilby, founder of Playr2. "Given all the bad reviews that surrounded the release of Duke Nukem Forever, it wasn’t surprising to see it clinch the top spot as the most disappointing game for the past 12 months. I think fans and reviewers alike felt let down by the storyline and graphics, with it failing to impress many."

Here are the top 10 most disappointing video game releases of the year so far, according to the study:

1) Duke Nukem Forever – 41 percent

2) Dragon Age II – 39 percent

3) Crysis II – 36 percent

4) LA Noire – 34 percent

5) Brink – 32 percent

6) Killzone 3 – 30 percent

7) Dead Space II – 27 percent

8) Need for Speed: Shift 2 – 24 percent

9) Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare - 21 percent

10) Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds - 18 percent

Wow, I enjoyed many titles of this list. Dragon Age II, Crysis 2, LA Noire, Killzone 3 , Dead Space II and Undead Nightmares. All of them were good games, nothing dissapointing. This list so much fail.

I have absolutely no idea why Dead Space 2 is on that list. I was thinking it was exceeding expectations rather than being disappointing in some areas

Dead Space 2 disappointing ? Of the 1,671 people in this survey ( conducted by gaming marketplace & Playr2)... Who were they ? Did they actually play the games & for how long ( 10 mins, 2hrs ?) , Did they buy them, or did they just "read" about them ? This is the problem with surveys.. I doubt half the people surveyed played the games let alone owned them..

Disappointment doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't good games, just that they didn't live up to the hype.

bullet storm comes to mind. could have been so good but ended up being a $60 for a 6 hour game.

Why didn't they let people only vote on one title each. It makes these numbers pretty meaningless (302%??) because the only two games on this list that are terrible are duke nukem forever and brink.

I don't understand why Dead Space 2 or RDR: Undead Nightmare are on there. Both were great games for me. Even M-v-C 3 was good, even though it had a few balancing issues.

Only Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Crysis 2 really disappointed me a bit (though I admit, I didn't buy BRINK or Duke Nukem: Forever). The rest I either bought or didn't find disappointing.

I like brink a lot... only lacks a few more maps, but the game is great (so is the auto bots addin as in the modern online gaming sphere, there isn't space for 20000 games.. at least bots that are planned for in dev guarantee the game's lifespan to be decent.

Weird list..Maybe Killzone 3 dissapointed a little, since it had chance to become 1 of the big shooters after great Killzone 2...But it didin't quite make it. Dead Space 2 was great also and LA Noire seemed interesting.Crysis 2?Hmm.
