On November 12, 2010 members of gamrConnect participated in an event called "VGChartz: Your 50 Favorite Games of All Time!" The object of the thread was simple: those who signed up would list their 50 favorite games from November 12 to December 31 (a total of 50 days). This was just a fun way for the community to step up and show others the 50 games that have impacted them in a big way.

Good list, most of my favourite games are included :) My top 5 in order would be GoWIII, Mass effect 2, Uncharted 2, Bioshock and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, all absolutely outstating games.

pretty good games on this list, but u can tell there was $ involved in this. example: ff13,uncharted 1, god of war 3, red dead redemption. like wtf?!! i love those games but its just not right. i know people have thier won opinions, but u dont fucking fuck like that. this is not a joke. there are certain limits to everything. im not expecting this list to be my opinion, and in fact its pretty good, but just take out a few titles that are nowhere near outstanding

If there was a list of the 50 worst lists of all time, this list would be in the top three. There are way too many similar games repeated. Two Pokemon games? Two Smash Bros games? Two Mario Galaxy games in the top ten? Not to mention half the list is Mario games and not a single Mario Kart?

Also, way too many blasphemous omissions to name. No Half-life 2, Street Fighter 2, WoW, and any Fallout games.

But the icing on the cake is including FFXIII. If that's your criteria for quality, why was Superman 64 omitted? I could list 50 CD-I games that were better than that chocobo dung.

I agree about FF8, I can't believe I missed it. What the hell is that turd doing on this list, couldn't bear more than 15 hours of that junctioning crap, the plot that only the writer can tell whats happening and those annoying characters. Its the only Final Fantasy game I couldn't finish. The only Top 50 it belongs to is Top 50 most overrated games of all time in my opinion.

I really love this list, and i don't relly like Nintendo that much, well the new nintendo, but this list brought back a lot of memories, really good memories of when gaming was gaming not the watered down COD crap that it is today, but the golden age of gaming.

I scratched my head when I didn't see gaylo or gears on there, I would have thought that those two games would have been in the top ten, although I am happy that they aren't.

I hate Gaylo, with a passion, I just can't stand it. Its just an average shooter people, but all the twelve year olds that plague my beloved 360 defend it as if it was Zelde the Ocarina of Time. And geras, well I like gears, but lets face it, the only thing that its got going for it, are its graphics and gore, other than that, the story sucks, the narrative sucks, the controls are clunky and the dialogue is a twelve year olds wet dream, nothing but insensible cursing.

Heavy Rain AND FFXIII made it to the top 50? Really?!? I can think of about 100 games off the top of my head that I could replace those with on this list.

Overall, pretty good list, though I'm surprised Uncharted 2 "charted" so high (hehe, I used a pun!)

Take away that and Shadow of the Colossus and Nintendo owns the Top 15 games of all time.

In my opinion, this list cries out for a VGChartz 'best games nobody played' list to introduce people to less common games. I'm not implying the games on the list are bad, but I think there are a lot of games that are as good or maybe even better [ducks] which simply did not get the exposure these games did.

It wasn't just the fact that OoT ranked highly in the lists, it was also the fact that the game appeared in so many lists. While some games ranked highly in a few lists and never showed up again (Sonic and Knuckles... sadness), OoT appeared often and was usually ranked very highly. A good combination for success.

Here's my thing. Being young doesn't automatically discredit your opinion on older games. I'm 22, and started with the old atari as my first console and worked through every generation since then. It was around the N64/PS era that games really started to become magical, so I tend to favor them. It just depends on when you hit that magic age, when gaming became the reason you were excited about christmas. For older generations it will always be the retro games that hold a special place, that's the way it is for every form of entertainment.

So stop saying this community is full of young people, sony, and nintendo fans like it's a bad thing. If that's the demographic, then it is what it is, and it must be that way for a reason. If you don't like it, then you can either go somewhere else, sit there and take it, or expand the microsoft or pc community.

SMG 1, 2, Uncharted 2 and TP does not belong in top 20. They are all great games, but lets be realistic here... Other than that decent list except really low placement of FF7 and RE4. Also MGS1 no where to be seen, but 3 and 4 is on there???????????

Final Fantasy > Zelda pre-playstation days, now its not.
None of the non-nintendo FFs ranked higher than those on the nintendo.

I'm just concerned with newcomers and lurkers seeing this list and thinking it's the official VGChartz list and not the current GamrConnect community list. I don’t want to damage site credibility. yet why does everytime a new sonic game gets announced people get anxious? because it had some AMAZING games way back when. and not ONE on the list. Not going to say waht i think don't deserve to be on list cause don't want to piss others off, but easy to see its a total fanboy list. I mean hell i know i personalyl didn't vote in this thing cause i knew it would just be fanboys coming in saying how some series holds position 1-20. and so on.

PC gaming has been ignored completely. Half Life 2 and Planetscape Torment not being on there is terrible. I can't believe portal is on there instead of the two I mentioned (I'm not saying Portal isn't good but if a PC game had to be on there its either Half Life 2 or Planetscape Torment).

I don't understand why a turd like Heavy Rain is on that list either or what Uncharted 1 is doing so high. The list isn't all bad though and I should just accept everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The list is full of great games, but the lack of Sega classics or any Xbox/360 games makes me think that the voters were primarily Nintendo and Sony fans. Don't get me wrong, all the games on the list are of high quality, but you'd think Sonic, Virtua Fighter, Halo, etc. would have shown up somewhere on the list.

On a side note I think the list is a little too current gen heavy. Maybe most of the voters are just smitten with the latest games or maybe they are young and didn't live through the golden years.

Donkey Kong arcade or Pac Man instead of Heavy Rain. Or drop one or two Final Fantasy games for Sonic 3 or Crazy Taxi.

I don't know, the list just seemed really skewed, like Sega fans, PC Fans, MS fans, and retro gamers didn't participate.

Good to know that even a list that the gamers choose can be fail by gamers standard... just waiting someone to call it biased... altough at least one Sonic should be there =]
