Final Fantasy XIV Trial Extended Again, Deus Ex Gets a Big Delay

by Chris Arnone, posted on 16 December 2010 / 1,237 Views

Square Enix is not a happy house right now. The numerous blunders on Final Fantasy XIV have lead to multiple extensions of the free trial period and the delay of the PS3 version. They recently announced yet another extension of the free trial as they've completely restructured the management team overseeing the game.

The company had originally estimated profits in the $142 million area, but are now estimating that will only be $12 million when their fiscal year ends March 31, 2011. Low game sales and lost subscription fees are mainly to blame.

Their other bit of bad news is the delay of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Originally slated for early March, the game has now been delayed "to spend additional time to further polish." They''re saying it should be out before April 2012, so some time in their next fiscal year, but no specific date beyond that.

I'm inclined to take Wagram's side on this. There are times when I ignore gamerFeed in general because I'd already read the headlines on Destructoid a couple of days ago. So, what's Square Enix's big games for 2011 then?

Sometimes when you need to tell someone something. You have to say it bluntly. That is the only way they take it seriously. They are slow as hell on this site when it comes to news.

Wagram, that's not the best way to constructively criticize the site. However, I also feel that most of the time when VGChartz posts news, I've already read them somewhere else, such as Kotaku or Joystiq. It's an area the site needs to improve.

And the Deus Ex delay was just announced today. I'll take your apology whenever you're ready.

You guys suck at getting news out. The FFXIV extension was announced like a week ago.
