Fifteen Years of PlayStation- Discounts and Free Content on PSN
by Arthur Kabrick, posted on 09 September 2010 / 2,417 ViewsToday, September 9th, is the anniversary of the American release of one of the best-loved consoles of all time: the original PlayStation. Fifteen years ago on this day, the console which would be the home to Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7-9, Xenogears, Crash, Spyro and dozens of other brilliant games; the console which would go on to sell more than any home console releasing before it by a clear 40 million units, the console whose games we still play, thanks to the PlayStation Store, launched in the United States of America, and with it launched the PlayStation brand, home to the two best selling home consoles in history.
Feel free to bring out the champagne and confetti, but Sony will be helping you celebrate. To commemorate fifteen mostly-fantastic years, there is some free content on the US PlayStation Store, as well as some discounts.
- Free anniversary themes for the PS3 and PSP (static);
- PlayStation 15th Anniversary menu option: a selection of discounted PSOne games which rotates weekly;
- Half price on Super Rub-A-Dub (if for whatever reason you happen to desire that game);
- A PSOne ornament for PlayStation Home.
The European anniversary is on 29th September, and hopefully SCEE will stage a similar event.
