Here we see data representing the global sales through to consumers, and change in sales performance, of the three home consoles over comparable periods for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.  Also shown is the market share for each of the consoles over the same periods.

"Year to date" sales for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 sales are shown in series at the top of the table and then just below a comparison of 2010 versus 2008 and 2010 versus 2009 is displayed.  This provides an easy to view summary of all the data.

The Wii is down again this week, by a slighlty higher margin than last week, and is only just clinging on to its year to date increase.  It still feels like the Wii will drop into negative territory soon.

Wii:  DOWN year on year this week by 34,000 or 19% and UP year on year - year to date by 2.30%.

The PS3 drops below 20% up year on year for the first time this year.  This now looks to be pretty much the floor level and is likely to be where performance will hover until the huge negative effect that will show through when the anniversary of the Slim is reached.

PS3:  UP year on year this week by 19,000 or 19% and UP year on year - year to date by 38.20%.

The 360 is up year on year - year to date for the first time in 2010.  Impressively, for a console in its 5th year, this means that it has just had its best first 6 months sales of any year in its history.  The new model continues to impress and it is certain now that the new model has captured the imagination of the consumers in the US.  The 360S is not launched in the EU until mid July but pre-orders are said to be strong.

360:  UP year on year this week by 74,000 or 69% and UP year on year - year to date by 0.75%

i'd like to know if the recent 360's boost in the US is due to newcommers or old users who are trading their fat 360 to take a new one.

Yes, it is impressive, but more impressive are the PS3 sales this year, that exceeds the sales of 360 in 22% !!

2010
360: 4.035.828
PS3: 5.171.257 (+1.135.429)
