VGChartz February Review Round-up
by Craig Snow, posted on 28 February 2010 / 1,683 ViewsAs many of you probably know already, VGChartz reviews are now being listed on Gamerankings.com as of this month, so now is a good time to start a feature I've been planning for a while which focuses on our reviews.
So this new feature, which I'll hopefully be doing once a month, is intended to show off the big-scoring reviews and provide a complete round-up of all of the reviews we've posted in the month. Feedback, criticism, suggestions etc. all welcome.
Review(s) of the Month:
There was a tie for highest rated game of the month this month, with BioShock 2 and Heavy Rain splitting the prize, with one other title also managing to make it into the coveted 9s, which is not easy under our review system:
BioShock 2 (360/PS3) - 9.1
"BioShock itself was a tremendous foundation from which to build upon, and the symbiotic relationship between little sister and big daddy was the perfect place to start. The incredible sense of atmosphere, the most unique of art styles, the newly refined and addictive gameplay with its hint of flare and RPG-like upgrades – it’s all still here and improved upon, placed alongside a brand new multiplayer component which silenced many preconceived doubts. BioShock 2 is a great sequel to one of this generation’s most defining titles."
Heavy Rain (PS3) - 9.1
"Heavy Rain is fun to play. It gives the player a thrilling rush, and an intriguing and interesting story that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. This is the kind of game that you may sit down and play all at once, not because it’s incredibly short, but because it’s just too hard to put down."
God of War Collection (PS3) - 9.0
"The visceral combat system is the defining aspect of God of War. With the conjoined Blades of Chaos serving as his primary weapons, Kratos fights his way through the annals of Greek mythology in the absolute goriest way possible. If you are looking to jump into the series for the first time then this is the best way available. God of War Collection is an epic deal in every sense."
