VGC Top 5 Achievementz and Trophiez: Return of Big Daddy

by Chris Arnone, posted on 12 February 2010 / 1,413 Views

Every week we're going to bring you trophy and achievement solutions to the top five most discussed and troubling challenges from some of the hottest games on the market. Two huge exclusives lead the pack this week, plus a couple of holdouts from the previous weeks, and the return of a 2-year old sequel.

5. White Knight Chronicles – Gold Embroidered Purse: A new purse for the one who has amassed 10,000,000 Gilda. The inside is filled with our happiness.

Bellamonte over at ps3trophies.org figured out a way to boost for gold with a little save game glitching that accelerates the earning process.

"You probably know you can't trade equipment and accessories to online players BUT you CAN trade consumables. What if you stuff a player with say 10 elixirs (I believe its the max you can hold), 10 panacea, 10 charge drink I/II/III and such. Since those sells for 700, 350, 150, 200, 350 respectively (if I'm not mistaken), it means 7000+3500+1500+2000+3500 = 17,5K (I probably forgot about something cause I came up with more than 20K).

Now the magic. You can actually trade your consumables, and load your game. They'll still all be in your inventory. So here's the plan.

Step1: Manage to gather the stuff mentioned (the hardest part but remember you can dupe them )
Step2: SAVE (Most important)
Step3: Find a trustworthy boosting partner.
Step4: Give hime the stuff (meanwhile he'll sell them)
Step5: DO NOT SAVE and reload your game
Step6: Repeat step 4 and 5
Step7: Change spot with your partner

Ok this is just something I came up with in my mind. I have tested it with 10 potion II, it does work. Now if it's effective, I don't know, but I believe 20K/2-3minutes is worth a try."

So, if you can earn 20,000 Gilda every 5 minutes, it will only take you (10,000,000 Gilda/20,000 Gilda = 500 transactions * 5 minutes = 2,500 minutes) just a little over 41.5 hours.

Considering most Japanese opinions estimate time to platinum trophy at 600-1000 hours, hours in the double digits seems like a bargain.

4. Dante's Inferno – The Guide: Collect all Virgil commentaries

The Virgil Commentaries add to the story and appear rather frequently. People seem to be missing one that appears just before the very first boss and once you miss one, you can't get it until the next playthrough. Keep your eyes peeled before the grappling section that leads to the first boss.

3. Dragon Age: Origins – Perfectionist: Across all playthroughs, discovered all possible endings.

While not a difficult trophy, this is more of a FAQ. This can be attained with a single save game. If you've saved before the Landsmeet, you can make your decisions and get an ending. You can then reload your save game and make different decisions. The game remembers every ending you've earned and will unlock the trophy/achievement after you get all four endings.

2. BioShock 2 – Master Protector: Get through a Gather with no damage and no one getting to the Little Sister.

This one comes with a video and is courtesy of the achievement guide on xbox360achievements.org by fizzmatix.

"This maybe a little difficult until you find the right spot. While making your way through Ryan Amusements and enter "Journey to the Surface" you will have to harvest ADAM from a body in a open room. You can hack the turret and place Rivet Traps on the floor and around the doorways. Once you have everything setup, place the sister down to collect ADAM. You can now back up into the corner and pick off splicers as they flood the room.

As long as you watch out for any splicers with guns and let the turret do all the work you should earn this without any issues."

1. Mass Effect 2 – Insanity: Complete the game on the "Insanity" difficulty level without changing the setting.

No game with an Insanity difficulty level wouldn't have a fatty achievement (75 points!) for beating it without cheating. No small feat. Fortunately, the community over at xbox360achievements.org - spearheaded by their member absolutehell - have created a great guide to help you on your way to the asylum.

From one trophy/achievement whore to another, happy hunting.

Sucks that if you kill only 1 little sister, the game will take that as an ending, instead of the other 20 or so little sisters saved...sucks really... And master protector isnt too hard, get a place with turrents, put on some mini turrents, fill the place with traps and so on. If possible do it at the beginning or middle or the game cause at the end big daddies will spawn and will try to take you out...

I'm surprised but I actually got the Master Protector trophy all by myself. :D It was in Siren Alley and I just sat in the corner, incinerated anyone I saw and then shot them.

600-1000 hours for WKC, wow. I would say that the game isn't worth spending that much time on. I enjoy achievements if they aren't completely ridiculous grinds. (fly 100,000 km in Tales of Vesperia comes to mind).
