This is great news for the Wii, especially in multiplatform development. Kynapse is a very powerful AI development tool, and is often used in many major games, including those which use the Unreal Engine. It has been used for a lot of successful games such as Crackdown and Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Angmar and it is being used for a lot of big future titles such as Alone in the Dark 5 and Fable 2.

@Superchunk:
...SUPER POWER!
OT: Glad to see devs are putting some quality game engines and tools out for Wii.
Sounds great now 3rd parties don't have an excuse for putting the shovelware on the Wii. I still want to see how UE3 works on the Wii as many devs stated they're using it but no videos of it in action.
and the wii's momentum gets ever stronger. FTW
Alone in the Dark is a pretty crappy horror series these days. Fatal Frame 4 is the survival horror game to look out for on the Wii.
Off topic: Alone in the dark 5 is coming to the wii?! Cool!
But yeah this is grrreat news. Pretty soon the Wii will get
killer 3rd party games! Maybe it'll be used for MH:3 from
Capcom????
Crackdown is an 83% on Gamerankings, and LotR:SoA is an 87%. Crackdown sold 1.35 million units, and LotR isn't selling like WoW or anything, but it's certainly selling well. Fable 2 is obviously a huge upcoming game, and It's also the AI engine for all Unreal Engine 3 games...
Honestly, there is no bigger AI middleware engine in existence. This is pretty much as big as it gets. I'm not sure how else to describe it to you, but basically this engine is the largest AI middleware engine and should be key to multi-platform development.
"Not sure what you guys want."
The whole announcement looked perhaps a bit too bombastic for the actual facts. I never heard about the software and the games it was used in may be ok but are not really blockbusters or specifically known for their AI. ;-)
Crackdown and LotR are both highly reviewed and successful (from a sales standpoint) games. Not sure what you guys want.
HECK YES!!
mmmkay :)
"Crackdown and Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Angmar"
doesn't sound like a great lineup to me ;-). But every little thing helps.
@Soriku it was just a question. And yes good news.
Is it save to assume that Alone in the dark 5 wii version uses this and that brothers in arms wii uses this ( as it is rumoured that gearbox ported the UE3 engine to the wii and that Kynapse is seamlessly integrated with UE3.
It has been used for a lot of successful games such as Crackdown and Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Angmar
They were succesfull?
The Wii is in it's 2nd generation and already the titles are getting far far better. Hopefully with such technology and bigger budgets (not always necessary but some of our games look on par with N64) the coming year will see greatness from some of the third parties atleast.
All this middleware has to help!
Nice. This will make it a lot easier for 3rd party devs to make Wii games.
Down with shovelware!
"Soriku you just did that for getting more post didn't you?"
Same as you then? ;)
Soriku you just did that for getting more post didn't you?
I love how flattering they are to the Wii sysyem. With all this remarkable magic talk I was thinking they were bringing Frankencense and Mir to the Wii.
This news is still just some of the first drop in the rain storm of Wii related development we will be hearing about in the next year.
Neato.
Nah don't worry about it Soriku. It will get some attention, just takes time.
