AdhocParty for PSP Coming Soon to Both PAL And NTSC

by Xavier Griffiths, posted on 13 November 2009 / 852 Views

We reported some months earlier that Sony was planning to release the anticipated adhocParty in the West. Finally, we get some confirmation, as both the official EU and US blog have reported that the feature will be available "soon" for owners of both a PSP and a PS3

What's adhoc Party, you ask, and why people wanted it so much and envied Japanese players? It allows for PSP players to connect to other PSP players in adhoc mode over the internet by connecting their PSPs to their PS3s. This way, adhoc play, which usually requires that you are within 10 metres of each other, can be used like normal online play. Which means, all your previous adhoc-only multiplayer games will be able to be played as any online game would, across the globe

adhocParty also allows for voicechat with a wireless headset or your PS Eye, through the PS3.

The application will be available for download from the PS Store for free, soon.

ye it does seem useless if it can only work when theres a ps3 around.lol

Sorry for my noobishness, but the whole point is to be able to play anywhere right? The PS3 doesn't have to be on, does it?

Adhoc Party is a great feature. But you must be using a wired internet connection on your PS3 as the wireless PS3 signal is used to comunicate with the PSP. I know that seems pretty obvious, but my mate is gutted becuase he uses his PS3 over a wireless internet connection so he can't use Adhoc Party.

whoops not sure why i wrote psp 3000 but meant i dnt hav a ps3 so this would seem unless to me since i hav psp 1000/3000

you don't need a newer model....I have a psp2000 and use adhoc party japan all the time.

kinda useless, i have a psp but not a psp3000 so basically it feels like pressuring non fans of ps3 into buying one which is ackward since a psp should work without having to use ps3

I wish I could do this without a ps3, but I will use this when I get a ps3.
