BOTW in the monthly top 10 nearly two and a half years after launch, nice

Yeah, at this point BotW has stronger legs than both Black Ops 4 and RDR2 in spite of being a significantly older game. Of course Minecraft and GTA5 are both placing even higher than BotW at this point, so those games have crazy strong legs.

But it also shows that third party publishers do not make great strides in the switch business.
That is why that most of them only publish re releases on the system.
For example EA fifa 19 switch sales represent less than 1% of it's worldwide revenu. Pretty bad considering the install base is around 35 million consoles.

Wish it was odyssey instead.

EA has a long history of half-assing games on Nintendo systems that dates back well before the Switch. I’d even argue that it dates back from when EA first entered the console market. I wish NFL and FIFA would open up to competition. A fully FIFA licensed PES and NFL 2K would give EA a much needed attitude adjustment.

I wonder if Nintendo could contract out development of its own NFL and FIFA games since it isn’t a third party publisher. Traditionally the Big Three were free to make their own football games in house. They stopped because they made more money off of Madden royalties.

Glad to see Fire Emblem doing well. It only had five days to build up sales in July. It’s the best game I’ve played YTD and it’s likely to be GOTY for me.

Well if you're going to compare Zelda to Fifa, you have to keep in mind that BOTW is an amazing game, and Fifa 19 was shit.

Interesting that Division 2 and Anthem, while two of this year's best sellers, both were seen as disappointments by Ubisoft and EA respectively, while RE2 Remake, though placing slightly below them, is a smash success that will likely lead to a RE 3 Remake. Maybe Ubi and EA should take a note from Capcom.

I think they've been seen as disappointments because they haven't been able to maintain a high number of monthly active users, especially Anthem. Publishers mostly care about active users, not unit sales, when it comes to GaaS.

No both Ubi and EA claimed both games missed their launch sales expectations despite selling millions. That combined with massive budgets/marketing (especially for Anthem) and that sales dropped off significantly after their launch week(s). The monthly active users part is true too but I was failed launch sales expectations. Think Star Wars Battlefront 2 but with a lot less of the controversy. It sold about 11 million units but they projected over 15 million so it was seen as a disappointment. Also Ubi mentioned in that preorders for Division 2 were a lot less than they anticipated.

Wow that's ridiculous! I guess that's what happens when a publisher caters to the greedy demands of investors...

Really happy to see three houses doing well in the us. I am loving the game, having a great time. Only 40 hours in so, theres a long, long way to go. So far, its deep and engaging. My favorite in the series, and I've played almost all of them.

Holy shit. Okay, I thought it would do better in the US than in Japan, but HOLY. SHIT. Already 2nd place? So behind Fates then? And sure to surpass it soon. Fire Emblem might not even need Japan to survive. Wonderful to hear it did so well, it's not my perfect idea of a Fire Emblem game but it's definitely outstanding and I'm always happy to see the series grow.
