by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 July 2019 / 1,283 Views

Blizzard Entertainment is currently hiring employees for an "unannounced Diablo project." According to a new report from French newspaper Le Monde (And translated Damien at the Icy Veins forums) the unannounced game is Diablo 4.

"The Blizzard Entertainment teams have already had the right to [watch] a presentation of the highly anticipated Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch is in the pipes," reads the report. "But none will come out before 2020, at best, and the employees of Versailles do not know if they will still be around when they eventually arrive."

The French newspaper is covering the major layoffs at Blizzard Versailles.

I hope its a first person game using the the CoD engine.

Glad to hear that a new Overwatch is in development. Hopefully it is a proper sequel for PC and next-gen consoles with both multiplayer and a singleplayer campaign.

I do wonder who they'll do it. Mainly because they have a league built around it and player bases might be split up. If you don't enjoy the new Overwatch, you'll go back to the first. It means they won't support it as much anymore either, so no new heroes. What if you had a favourite heroes from the first that isn't in the new one? etc

I seriously hope that 4chan post is wrong, because if it's ever true, D4 is screwed, and other projects too.

Diablo 4 probably started development right after the backlash of Diablo Immortal.

If so, then there was almost nothing to be shown in only 6 months of development. The development of D4 began in 2016, when Blizzard began hiring for a new Diablo project.
