Niantic's Pokémon GO earned an estimated $795 million worldwide in 2018, according to a report from intelligence firm Sensor Tower. That is a 35 percent increase when compared to 2017.

The game averaged nearly $2.2 million per day in 2018, an increase over $1.6 million in 2017. December saw players spend $75 million, a 32 percent increase.

The US was the biggest market for the game with a 33 percent marketshare and earning $262 million. Japanese players spent $239 million, a 30 percent marketshare.

Pokémon GO is available as a free-to-play title on iOS and Android.

With titles on mobile player figures can go down substantially while revenue remains high, as the game drops non paying casual players but retains and drains the whales who do shell out it means operating costs can be reduced as long term players will also require less customer support as they know how the game functions already.

Just saying revenue doesn't mean high player count.

I picked the game back up this year, been hooked for a while now. I will say I've contributed to that number and I'm not ashamed to admit it. :-D

That is kinda ridiculous. I thought the game was more waning, but it increased +35% from last year.

I'm a security guard and have had to chase off so many Go players. I always apologize to them, and have to explain that our campus closes at 6pm. Feels so bad. They are just trying to have fun.

As an avid Pokemon Go player I can tell you this isn't surprising at all. Anybody that's been constantly playing knows that the community and the game has grown significantly in the past few years, and still growing. (The only down time for a lot of countries would be now during the winter season when its too cold and snowy to go out and catch/raid)
