Sony Interactive Entertainment and Lenovo have formed a partnership that has to do with the PlayStation VR headset. Sony has licensed the design for the PlayStation VR to Lenovo that will let Lenovo to create its own Lenovo Mirage solo VR headset.

"We are pleased to announce that we have licensed the PS VR headset design to Lenovo," said Chief Legal Officer at Sony Interactive Entertainment Riley Russel. "The industrial design for PS VR has been widely acclaimed, and that was the result of years of hard work by PlayStation engineers. This agreement with Lenovo is a testament to the quality of PS VR’s design, as well as SIE’s commitment to creating great virtual reality experiences and helping the VR industry expand."

Lenovo VP Yao Li added that the agreement "will allow us to work together to greatly enhance the design sophistication and appeal of the rapidly expanding VR field, and is an outstanding example of how great consumer brands in the VR industry can work together to benefit the consumer VR market."

I like the design and there is a lot to improve, question is if Lenovo will only do PC or TV/Multimedia VR and perhaps increase resolution or if Sony will allow them to sell cheaper version on PS... either way more production will help price drop and increase penetration which is good for us.

not really, its a case of Lenovo vr being a design knock off of psvr, having the choice of buying a licence or face legal action for copyright Lenovo went for the sensible option. apparently it's for 2 years, so whether that's what both parties feel is enough time to make a redesign and sell existing stock,or the basis for longer term involvement time will tell ,but if I had to bet ,I would go for the former rather than later.

I know they talk about partnership but behind the PR speak was the legal threat and 2 years seems a short time for a true long term partnership still I have been wrong before.

I have used PSVR, aside from the cheap feel and cables required (not wireless) it is by far the most comfy compared to the Rift and Vive

To begin with I found it comfortable, but these days I don't, not sure why, perhaps its me putting it on incorrectly....

and good for Sony! earning more money from their gaming investment is only a good thing for gamers, this is basically money coming into the hobby we love without us having to spend it!
